A Canton tapering rectangular section vase and cover, the finial as a female figue seated by a barrel seat with a wine pot, the sides with handles formed from two female figures each seated with a lotus frond on a lotus plinth, the sides and cover decorated with panels of figures and flowers on a typical gilt ground with flowers, 56cm, second half of the 19th century
A pair of late Victorian walnut armchairs with shaped and arched crest rails carved with leaf and fruit design, the turned uprights with carved Ionic capitols, rounded arm terminals, on bulbous turned front supports with conforming H-pattern stretchers, the seat, back and arm pads upholstered in brown hide
Pair of William Morris ‘Bird’ pattern seat covers, Jacquard-woven wool double cloth, England (probably Merton Abbey), late 19th century, each approx. 24in. x 34in. 61cm. x 86cm. Each panel cut for upholstery, frayed at edges, wear, dirt staining. This pattern was designed by Morris himself in 1878, specifically for the drawing room at Kelmscott House, his own residence in Hammersmith, London. Like most Morris designs it remained in production by Morris & Co. for many years. (2)
A fine elbow chair in Adam style, the cream painted channel frame with pale blue and gilded ribbon and leaf carving, the shield shaped padded back with open arms on laurel leaf supports, the stuffed-over serpentine fronted seat with a beaded and fluted frieze to floret carved blocks, on front leaf capped turned tapering fluted legs.
