Marcel Breuer for Isokon Furniture Company, a BC1 chair (Isokon Long Chair), designed 1936, but this example manufactured circa 1964 by Alesbury Brothers, Maidstone. Breuer redesigned the chair in 1952 making the seat slightly wider and supported on brackets. As Isokon ceased making furniture in 1939 and Jack Pritchard was busy with the Furniture Development Council, the re-designed chair was not put into production until 1964 and even then on a modest scale. This was purchased from Jack Pritchard to match the original Isokon Chair owned by the Rowntrees. See illustration
