He started to assist there, later undertaking a four-year apprenticeship. After serving in the army, he established his own blacksmithing business and also taught at what is now the National School of Blacksmithing in Hereford. A farrier all his life, Derek has shoed thousands of horses including winners of the Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup. It was available in either chair or bench versions. The seat was painted in the Festival colours of yellow, blue, red or grey. The 'Antelope' demonstrates the economic use of material and form. The delicate curvilinear outline and distinctive ball feet typify the contemporary or festival style of the early 1950s. The design gained an international reputation for Ernest Race. Like Race's 'BA3' chair, the 'Antelope' received a commendation at the 1954 Milan Triennale. Race Furniture Ltd. put it into commercial production in the mid-1950s.Condition report: The seat appears to have been repainted. Chips and splitting to the wood. Painted frame with chips and possible paint additions.

An Avro Anson aircraft seat,with a black leather seat, safety belt, with a back pocket, stamped 'Avro',47cm wide50cm deep92cm highThis stunning military aircraft seat once graced the interior of an Avro Anson military plane.The Avro Anson was a twin-engine plane launched in 1935, on the cusp of WWII. With its durable frame and above-average flight distances, the Anson was mainly used to train bomber crews before they began flying heavy frontline aircraft, such as the famous Avro Lancaster Bomber.This seat features its original restored and restrengthened leather, including the Avro maker's mark. The lightweight tubular metal frame comes in its original painted finish and has been strengthened to increase its longevity, while new webbing replaces missing seat support straps. A missing belt has been authentically reproduced, resulting in a museum-ready exhibit or a unique chair for the home.Condition report: Dried out and cracked leather throughout. Later safety belt reset with new screws. Frame worn.

This is a very pretty, original UK right-hand drive car and was purchased by the vendor on 3 November 2006. The car has been fully restored and has a Heritage Certificate advising the date of dispatch as 31 January 1969 to a dealership 'Stewart & Arden Ltd, Acton'. The vehicle was last MOT’d on 24 April 2015 covering only 15 miles in the interim.
