A set of five (4 + 1) early 18th century style walnut dining chairs each with vase-shaped pierced splat, drop-in seat and cabriole legs carved with earpieces and terminating in hairy-hoofed feet, the carver with shepherd's crook style arms* Condition: The chairs are in solid condition overall, although all have some old repairs and wear / scuffs and marks to the surface, which are commensurate with the age and regular use. The (original) seats are stripped and require recovering. - Carver: Slight play to right arm at joint with upright. Old repair to top of the same upright and tip of one spur replaced to one front leg. - Chair 1: Replaced section to lower 4in of the splat. - Chair 2: Old repair to the shoe piece beneath the splat. Cracking to joints at top of the left hand front leg. - Chair 3: Old repair to the shoe piece beneath the splat and also a let-in repair to the top of the splat. Spur to back of one front foot has a glued repair. - Chair 4: One spur to front foot has a glued repair. Otherwise good.
