WILLIAM PITT INTEREST: GEORGE III MAHOGANY GAINSBOROUGH STYLE CHAIR, late 18th century, with camel top rail, upholstered back and seat, slight outswept arms, moulded legs and H stretcher, height of back 100cm A brass plaque applied to an arm support is inscribed: "This Chair was the Property of WILLIAM PITT and was purchased at The sale at BURTON PYNSENT by the Late Rev'd Samuel Alford of HEALE HOUSE near Langport Somerset. James H Pring MD 1856". Burton Pynsent House is a Grade II* listed country house situated in the parish of Curry Rivel, Somerset. It was built in 1765 for William Pitt, 1st Earl of Chatham, after inheriting the estate from Sir William Pynsent.
