Provenance: Private collection, London Literature: D. McN. Stauffer, American Engravers upon Copper and Steel, 1907, p. 252, no. 1505 I.N. Phelps Stokes and D.C. Haskell, American Historical Prints Early Views of American Cities, etc., 1933, p. 19, no. B-17 G. G. Deak, Picturing America, 1497-1899, 1988, p. 47, no. 78 ⁂ "The most important engraved view of [Quebec], as well as the earliest executed by an American", [G.G. Deak, op. cit., p. 47]. In 1759 Quebec-at the time a French northern settlement-fell to the English following one of the pivotal battles of the Seven Years' War, aptly named The Battle of the Plains of Abraham after the farmer who originally owned the plot. In an effort to capitalise on peaked interest in Quebec, Stephen Whiting, a London-based printseller, commissioned the Boston-based engraver, Thomas Johnston, to produce the present work and 'satisfy the curiosity of American and English audiences about the picturesque city' (G.G. Deak, op. cit., p. 47). Johnston's view is based on another inset view from an earlier map of Quebec by Nicolas de Fer published in 1718, which featured in Chatelain's seven-volume "Atlas Historique" (1705-1720).

Ford Escort Rally Car Shell 1994 - In the spirit of our Motorsport flavour to this auction we have here a very un-usual Lot! A full house 4 Wheel Drive Escort Rally prepped shell, complete with RAC/MSA Log book and a UK V5 Log Book .Starting life as a FWD shell, the previous owner converted it to run as a 4WD or Rwd Car built for Stage Rallying. It was campaigned in 4WD guise on stage Rallies in Northern England in the early 2000ês, apparently successfully (though unverified) see pictures of how it was. At this point the decision was taken to strip it and respray the body. Unfortunately, while apart the suspension, brakes plus other major components wentmissing. Very disappointed by this, the car then stood incomplete but resprayed until the current vendor, an ardent Ford Rally enthusiast purchased it with mind to rebuild itwhen time allowed Well time never did allow and now with him relocating, the decision has been taken for it to be offered to the market. Offered we have to say, with a reserve that does not approach the value of the shell and its parts if it were to be broken up!What follows is a summary from the vendor of what you will be getting if you are successful in the purchase of this very desirableShell.–Escort mk IV Rwd Rally Car .1995. M.S.A. Competition car log book for stage rallying. •Mê Reg V5 States Escort 3 Door Hatchback. Built to and has competed on stage Rallies using Cosworth RWD/4WD Engine and running gear. Shell seam welded, Cosworth 4_4 Tunnel, Roll Caged, Steel Cosworth front wings ,Morrette style front Lights and loom for Front light Pod etc. Large Rear Suspension turrets. Bias peddle box. Hydraulic hand brake, F/r compensator. Finished inside and out in Ford Diamond white. Has bespoke Motorsport braided wiring loom, dash and instruments? Terra trip. Battery cut off, Fuel cell, Battery Box. Oil surge System. Aeroquip hoses. Plumbed in extinguishers. Race Spec seat rails and seat mounts. Rear diff /cradle and drive shafts. Compomotive TH Wheels. Steering is still fitted to the car with completion wheel. Various components present under the bonnet. The shell itself is in very good order with just some easily repaired damage to the body kit to the side skirts mainly, from being sat with no wheels for a time. Rear glass is missing while both of the rear-side and the front screen are standard and present. Both front side widows are Perspex and fixed with sliding sections. As you can see. The car is a shell. It has been fitted with metal struts and hubs purely for ease of moving. It is not a rolling shell in any other way and should be priced accordingly. There is no engine, gearbox, suspension, brakes discs, calipers etc etc so what you see is what you get. What you do get is a very high spec shell fitted with a lot of very expensive bits complete with a UKM Registered V5. Just begging for someone to either rebuild back to fullCosworth Escort Spec using their rusty or damaged Sierra Sapphire as a donor car. Or if youêre feeling really brave, a nice American V8 and gosilhouette racing. What a track day car that would be!NOTE. Pictures showing rear wheels for demonstration purposes, the small wheels behind them were for transport only and the Shell will come with all 4 Compomotive wheels with tyres.

Lot 192

Volkswagen Scirocco “Scala” 1989 - Far rarer than its brother the Golf and now becoming very sought after is the Volkswagen Scirocco and the special addition “Scala” was always a rare sight even when new. This particular car has survived incredibly well with diamond straight body work and no signs of rust and being a Scala, is as original and finished in factory white with its special edition alloy wheels (which have recently been restored). Open the tail gate and all the usual suspect areas where rust can be found are like new, including the underneath edge of the tail gate and boot floor areas. Inside the door shuts on the A post are signs of the original factory grease still and the car was Ziebarted from new to stop any rust getting into the chassis, doors or floor pans. The interior is incredible, totally original with no signs of wear not even on the driver seat bolsters, un heard of without being retrimed! The 1800cc injected engine fires instantly and soon settles to an even tick over, the vendor has just had a new exhaust manifold fitted. He reports that on the road the car feels so much newer than its age being quick enough to have some fun, while not being expensive to run. Its gear box and clutch are good along with all the general mechanics and electrics. But no more than you would expect from a car that has only 100,497 miles on the clock and is complete with an excellent full service history ( VW up to 68,000 year 2000 then VW specialist ) plus a file full of receipts, bills, old MOt’s and its handbook. With a current MOT through to June 2017 and not to be confused with the “Normal” VW’s on the market, this car is truly ready to go and offers an excellent opportunity for any collector of 80’s cars or Volkswagen fan.

Lot 135

Here at ECCA we are honoured to of been chosen to offer for auction the “Steve Tandy” collection of Motorsport and Motorsport derived cars. This collection is the fruit of one mans labour, both in the Motorsport arena, where he has won multiple World, European and British championships and his private passion for fast cars. From a one owner “find” Ford Escort Cosworth, multi championship winning National Hot Rod cars, historic Ford Rally cars to big growling American V8 race cars there really is something from most forms of circuit or broken surface racing in the collection, offered here today!First up is this instantly recognisable and favourite of just about every teenager in the 80’s, 1987 Ford Sierra “Cosworth” affectionately known as a “Whale Tail Cossie”. These cars marked just about the end of the mad pursuit in the eighties by companies like Ford to be top dogs in the “Let’s take a boring family saloon car and turn it into a true performance car”game!! Alongside offerings from BMW, Audi and even Volvo. Somehow though it was Ford that captured most people’s imagination, all of a sudden the boring and mundane 1600cc Rep Mobile that you or your dad drove every day actually looked like the cars seen winning just about every saloon car race series in the country. You could even buy that OTT rear spoiler and bolt it on, if it did not actually make your car faster who cared it “looked” like it would be!!Body work is in great condition, it has not even been cleaned in the pictures. That is as it has been kept. Door shuts and body lines are excellent with no signs of repairs or impacts. Open the doors and the door steps and apertures all round are perfect with no rust or corrosion evident. This goes for the doors themselves as well. All the relevant body kit parts are present and correct and the aftermarket wheels are in good condition.Inside is excellent. The Recaro seats had a reputation for being “delicate” well not liking being sat on which is a bit inconvenient when you are a seat! Somehow, apart from some slight looseness of the front seat bases material, the seats in this car have survived very well. The dash is good with just one or two minor cracks that all Fords of this time suffered with. Not bad but there. All the original instruments are in place and working, even the original stereo is still fitted so no nasty big holes and poor wiring from badly fitted aftermarket stereos ( this is not tested at time of writing but will update once done so) The LCD clock works but has dimmed with time. Even the rear parcel shelf is there, slightly bowed from time if you open the rear hatch, but not noticeable when closed.Last on the road in 1997 this superb condition example should be recommissioned before being used, more as a precautionary thing and something anyone with any mechanical sympathy would do automatically. However it has regularly been run up during those years, its wheels have been rotated to stop any flat spotting and it has on the odd occasion been taken out for a drive, so it does start and run, gearbox clutch and transmission are fully functioning as are the brakes and all electrics. We all know how strong values of all Fast Fords are, with cars often changing hands multiple times and at a higher price each time. It is very rare for a “new” car to come to market such as this one as once in private collections they tend to stay there. Making this car an excellent opportunity for any serious collector or lover of “Blue Oval” cars.Note: The very rare and hard to find genuine work shop manuals are with the car.

Lot 128

Morris Minor 1000 2 Door 1961 - This great example of a 2 doorMoggy Minor must set some sort of record, in its paper work amongst its original hand books etc, it has 50 yes 50 MOT certificates, dating right back to the oldest type one we have seen, issued in 1966!!First registered to a lady owner in July 1961, it stayed with her until sold to the only other registered owner, another lady in September 2002, both keepers in the same postal area. 406VPA is unusual in another way. In 1961 the semaphore-style trafficators were replaced by then new style flashing direction indicators, well this car has both? Although the semaphore ones do not function we can only surmise that it was a very late in the runsemaphore equipped car that was then modified withThem new-fangled flashing ones!Today he is a real genuine old car, not in concourse condition, just a lovely solid car that has not been restored just permanently maintained with work being done as and when. Body work is very good with just signs here and there of these running repairs, not rusty though and still presents very well with nice chrome etc.Interior is more of the same. The Driverês seat has been replaced at some time, being a slightly different shade. The other seats are original with a nice patina. Carpets are to good not to of been replaced. The dash is excellent.Mechanically that excellent 4 cylinder 948 cc engine, that is so popular with enthusiasts round the world, starts easily with no fuss and still is more than willing to pull this car down the road. There is an undisputable charm to these cars, drive one and you soon discover just how people become so attached to them. The odometer reads 52221 but that has been the mileage recorded since 1972 according to its MOTês so you can safely say that is not correct. All the other mechanics and electrics are good with the MOT current until 31st of October. So if you want to own a Morris Minor, one you can enjoy as is and maybe improve as you go and one that you can use all year round, have a close look at this car.Morris Minor 1000 2 Door 1961-
