A George III burr oak longcase clock, Robt. Scholfield Junr. Rochdale, the hood with later carved swanneck pediment, 14 3/8inch (36.5cm) brass dial inscribed above the arch 'The Moon and Stars by Night', moonphase disc, engraved seconds dial and date aperture, scroll mask spandrels, the silvered chapter ring marked 'Time Flies' at 12 o'clock, with 8 day 4 pillar movement, the trunk with reinforced cheeks, shaped top door flanked by quarter pilasters, shaped panel fronted plinth, on bracket feet 234cm (91in) cheeks later reinforced or strengthened. Repairs to the arch frame of the dial and crack to the lettering piece; movement rebushed and cleaned; old seat board; two side mouldings loose; movement not tested.
Robert Sly, King Street, Westminster, a William and Mary walnut marquetry longcase clock with restorations, 198 x 45cm (77 x 18in) Repairs to inlay on hood. restorations and repairs to case, as well as some damage. Damage to top of brass dial. Seat board repaired. Pendulum and weights seem original. Glass possibly replaced. Seems to be heavily repaired/restored.

An early 19th century mahogany library chair, in the French consulate manner after a design by Percier and Fontaine for Georges Jacob, with a curved ebony line inlaid back with anthemion motif, on carved winged lion mask monopodia front legs, button upholstered in red leather, on later brass gilded casters, replacing the original carved wood lion paw feet Note: For a similar design chair, see Lot 54. Sotheby's Benacre Hall sale, 9th-11th May 2000. 59 x 128 x 60cm (23 x 50 x 23in) Provenance: The deceased estate of a Hertfordshire gentleman Literature: The Greco-Roman inspired form of this armchair is based on a design appearing in a drawing of circa 1795 attributed to Percier and Fontaine, showing five chair sketches for the Jacob workshop. Elements of these drawings were used by Jacob in collaboration with Jean-Baptiste Sene for a commission for the Convention Nationale. Chairs of this design are often referred to as Fauteuil de la Convention. The inspiration for this chair derives from antique furniture excavated from archaeological sites in Rome, at Herculaneum and Pompeii, copies of which appear in pattern books of the late 18th century. The winged lion monopodia was a classic feature favoured by Jacob Freres and used often during the Napoleonic Empire period. The chair has sadly lost the paw feet on both the front legs, which have been strengthened with wrought iron brackets fitted to the side rails joining the front and back legs Signs of old worm in the seat rails, some inlay losses and old repairs to the inlaid back. It is thought that the buttoned leather back, seat and armrests may well be a later addition. There are no visible maker's stamps
An early 19th century Regency chinoiserie low chair, probably by Crace, the back constructed of interlocking key fret and scrolls, originally painted, not mostly abraded, blue cloth seat, possibly original, much distressed. This rare chair is typical of the designs of John Frederick Crace and was possibly made for the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, see The Craces: Royal Decorators 1768-1899, Megan Aldrich, the Royal Pavilion, Art Gallery Museum, 1990, pl. 1:7, where a design by John Crace for the Glass Passage displays similar fret work. the back rest is loosely based on the Chinese Shou (happiness) character

A 17th Century carved oak settle, the back with reeded finials above panels of foliate scrolls, dragons, lozenge motifs and inscription "God's Providene Is Mine Inheritance, Thomas Reresby 1621", with hinged box seat below, the front and sides with further lozenge motifs, 67 x 24 x 53in. high. PROVENANCE Bears previous catalogue description from unknown sale Lot 212: "A fine old *** with box seat... from Eastwood Hall, Ashover, Derbyshire, which residence with all the fine carved oak furniture (see old records of Ashover for full and interesting account), was sold in 1623, by Sir. Thomas Reresby and the owner to the Rev. Emanuel Bourne, Rector of Ashover. After allowing them time to remove their chattels the Hall was blown up by gunpowder in 1646, by The Commonwealth Army...".

An early Victorian rosewood decorative high back occasional chair, centred by needlework shield pattern coat of arms within a carved scrolling panel back, with pierced cresting rail flanked by spiral twist uprights, the seat covered in distressed blue baize, raised on spiral twist tapering legs.
