A 1965 Gilbert James Bond 007 tinplate Aston Martin DB5 - a rare find in this condition. Produced in Japan, this excellent example with all gadgets tested and fully functioning drives forward, stops, reveals its bullet shield and flashing machine guns, accompanied by the rat-a-tat-tat sound of the machine gun fire before returning to its original state before driving off again. Also features a complex rotating rear numberplate mechanism, ejector seat, rear wheel shreader and painted driver and passenger figures. The car is in first class condition with clean battery box and comes with its original boxe, original 007 tag and internal polystyrene packaging.

A 1970 Corgi 270 James Bond 007 Aston Martin DB5, a rare variant with transitional packaging (only produced in this format for one year). Fully functional including the ejector seat, bullet proof shield, front machine guns, rotating numberplates and extending wheel spinners. The rare blue and yellow box is in good condition bar some damage to the cellophane window. Complete with the secret instruction envelope containing the rarer red instructions sheet, a spare ejectable passenger, rare cloth lapel badge and remaining unused numberplate stickers.

He was the son of John Hardy and his wife, Isabelle Gathorne of Kirby, Lonsdale. The sitter’s brother was created the 1st Earl of Cranbrook. Hardy was elected to the House of Commons for Midhurst in March 1859, but held the seat for less than two months. The following year he was returned for Dartmouth, a constituency he represented until 1868, and then sat for Warwickshire South from 1868 to 1874. On 23 February 1876 he was created a Baronet, of Dunstall Hall in the County of Stafford. In 1878 he was appointed High Sheriff of Staffordshire. Sir Francis Grant’s “Sitters’ Book”, preserved today in the National Portrait Gallery, records Hardy sitting in 1857. Hardy died in July 1888, aged 79.Condition report: Oil on canvas which is unlined. There are several patches on the reverse of the painting mending old damages which have been retouched from the front. The paint layer has numerous areas of raised and flaking paint with scattered losses to the original material. The varnish is yellowed and there is a layer of dust on the surface. The gilding on the frame has suffered and is flaking with numerous losses.

A French salon suite, comprising settee and two chairs, with gilt painted showframes and upholstered in pink cell patterned material. Settee width 125 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The height to the back of each chair is 99.5 cm. The width of the seat between the arms is 53 cm. Depth of seat from bottom of oval back 51 cm. Height of top of seat from floor +/- 45 cm. Width of settee seat between the arms 118.5 cm. Seat depth 55.5 cm. Seat height 45.5 cm.

Lot 1423

A set of four Victorian rosewood dining chairs, each with bowed top rail, drop in seat and raised on turned and faceted front legs. CONDITION REPORT: The four chairs are all structurally fairly sound. Two have no movement at the rear joints. Two have slight movement at the rear right hand joints. Whilst there are none of the usual breaks where the top rails join the stiles, all four chairs have been re-glued at this point. The glue is visible as you will see from our images. One chair has a timber loss to the right hand stile. This is on the leg that is showing discolouration. This is the leg with the overpainted knops. One chair has a loss to the bottom turning of one leg. All front leg joints are secure. We can see no repairs to any of the legs. There is no evidence of woodworm. The leatherette upholstered seats are serviceable.

A mahogany armchair, with upholstered back and stuffover seat and raised on foliate carved cabriole legs. Width across arms 60 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chair is structurally sound with no loose joints and no significant damage or any repairs to the exposed showframe. There are some minor abrasions and the odd paint mark but no significant issues. The upholstery is also in reasonably good condition with no holes or tears and no significant wear. The seat is well sprung and comfortable.
