A 19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY AND UPHOLSTERED PARLOUR CHAIR, the deep buttoned spoon back with scroll terminals, over a seat with bowed front rail and flanked by arms with boldly carved scrolling supports, raised on turned legs and moving on castors; together with A SIMILAR 19TH CENTURY PARLOUR CHAIR. A late 18th Century elm cased thirty-hour longcase clock by Thomas Sharp, Stratford, the case with square hood and 8½" brass dial with decorated spandrels, 189cm high/see illustration Condition Report: The dial has for obsolete holes on the reverse it is therefore probably associated, the seat board with crude restorations and the dial aperture crudely cut but original. The movement needs attention as the winding gear teeth are worn and the weight habitually pulls the chain through the winding wheels other than acceptable scratches, small splits and old worm holes, the clock case is in acceptable condition.
A pair of Chinese pierced and carved hardwood single chairs, the backs decorated prunus trees, fitted loose trap seats on cabriole front legs/see illustration Condition Report: Chair 1 - Back decorated figures at a table. Small gaps at joints otherwise good. Chair 2 - Back decorated figures beneath a blossom tree. Split to frame at back of seat, visible under. Split to section at bottom of one back support. Both chairs are about 93cm high and the seats 34cm wide at widest point. They are small but very heavy.
An oak armchair in the manner of Leonard Wyburd for Liberty and Co, with panelled back above Moorish dowels on turned legs/see illustration Condition Report: Some surface wear to seat and to edges/raised elements. Old worm to small blocks beneath seat (not live). A few old worm holes to frame near the blocking (visible from beneath). Otherwise sound.
A Regency parcel gilt and green armchair, painted a cherub panel within leaf scrolls, with scroll arms and turned tapering legs Condition Report: Cane seat has some age, a little stretched but intact. A lot of old worm holes visible to frame (beneath). Wear and craquelure to paint. The painted finish is later and may conceal other restoration.
Early 18th century longcase clock with eight day movement, twelve inch brass dial with cherub spandrels, matted centre and winding holes and subsidiary seconds dial, calendar aperture and silvered chapter ring, signed Bar Dammant Colcestrice fecit, in an associated tall floral marquetry inlaid case with three-panel door and oval lenticle, hood with floral marquetry border and carved architectural pediment (one weight only and pendulum), 220cm overall height CONDITION REPORT General condition of movement is good but very dirty and we are unable to say if it is in full working order. Case appears to be associated. Seat board has been raised to fit hood. Backboard is split. Marquetry is cracked on door and plinth. Lenticle surround is scuffed. Some other damage. Hood has no dial mask and side panels have been filled. Frieze carving possibly later replacement
Unusual 19th century oak and elm primitive stick back elbow chair with high arched back and outswept arms having broad shaped seat on turned splayed supports, united by an H-stretcher CONDITION REPORT Chair has been reduced in height. Primitive repair to a split to reverse of top rail (nails). Slight losses to front left and centre of seat. Good patination / wear consistent with age
19th century Chinese padouk garden seat of pierced barrel form, with faux stud edge with marble insert, 42cm diameter, 52cm high CONDITION REPORT White marble inset is possibly associated, some shrinkage at the joins, there is also a fillet of wood in one of the joins on the top, elsewhere minor splits to sides, loss to base inner edge, good patination, generally wear consistent with age
