Circa 30 BC. Uncertain mint in Cilicia or Syria. Obv: bare head right. Rev: spear, sella quaestoria (seat) and fiscus; Q below. RPC I 5409; AMNG II 29 (Pella) note; FITA 13-19 (Thessalonica?"). 17.03 grams. ("). This is an enigmatic issue, variously attributed to Brutus, Octavian or the governor of Syria, Gaius Sosius; the Q beneath the image on the reverse often denotes an issue by a quaestor and the attribution to Cilicia or Syria is based on the find spots. Near very fine for issue.
2nd-4th century AD. A large schist statue of Maitreya, seated cross-legged in meditation; hair pulled up into a top-knot with fillet decorated with rosettes, large nimbus to the back of the head; elongated ears with earrings, eyes half closed in meditation, recess to brow for separate urna, finely engraved moustache; sash over shoulders, bands of necklaces to chest with amulet cases; armlets and bracelets to both arms; robes hanging over edge of rectangular seat; panel to front of seat decorated with Buddha seated in meditation, two devotees to either side; mounted on a custom-made stand. 69 kg total, 76cm including stand (30"). Property of an English collector; previously the property of an Anglo-Indian gentleman; acquired from the Julian Sherrier collection in 1978, supplied with geologic report No. TL004877, by geologic consultant Dr R. Pala, 8th-11th century AD. A carved stone figure of Buddha from a frieze, sitting cross-legged in the Bhumisparsha, or 'Calling the Earth to Witness' on a tiered seat with palmettes and wreath to the rear, the left hand resting-palm-upwards in the lap, small lotus flower to palm and base of foot; mounted on a custom-made stand. 26.5 kg total, 44cm (17 1/4"). Property of a European gentleman living in London; previously from an American collection formed in the 1950s. Very fine condition.

SCHAAY OF DISS, NORFOLK, wooden framed with makers mark to base at front, covered in two tone brown fur with white nose and tail, some wear especially to the mane, green leather seat and reigns, with some wear, metal stirrups on leather straps, some paint loss and rusting to metal frame and stirrups, painted wooden mouth and hooves, length of horse approximately 110cm, length of frame approximately 130cm, height from floor approximately 120cm, appears complete and in working order
