BINDER, EDWARDS AND VAUGHAN. Collection of 22 pages, many from a circa A5 notebook, all bearing original sketches in various inks (though mostly ballpoint pen) by members of the seminal design collective BEV (Binder, Edwards and Vaughan). One page bears handwritten note: "Designs for: 7 Pub Tables, 1 Love Seat, 1 Scotch Chests..." Provenance: Discovered by a builder/property developer at a property on Market Street, Stalybridge in 1998. NOTE - two of the sketches included in this lot, seen in the lower right and left corner of the second image have been identified as later works by David Vaughan and not by the BEV collective.

Condition is generally Ex+, however please note that some sleeves have handwriting on the back/inside the sleeve and labels.

A 19TH CENTURY ANGLO INDIAN ORNATELY CARVED HARDWOOD CHAIR, the pierced back with three exotic birds above foliate scrolls, circular tapestry seat above a band of flower buds between four winged beast headed legs with a bird on each paw foot, leaf stretchers and carved pendant, overall height 97.5cm and height to seat 45cm (condition: the back is not firm and has large old screws fastening the back to the base with old filled holes, one of the winged sections between the legs is loose but still attached)

Original vintage advertising poster for tourism in Munich. It features the Odenplatz in the distance, a large square in central Munich which was developed in the 19th century by Leo von Klenze and is at the Southern end of Ludwigstrasse. Two important buildings, the Feldherrnhalle and the Theatinerkirche can be seen. Munich is the capital and most populous city of Bavaria, the second most populous German federal state. The artwork features the spires of the iconic Cologne Cathedral, against a stained glass graphic and navy blue background. Printed by Kolnische Verlagsdruckerei G.M.B.H. Cologne is the largest city of Germany's most populous federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the fourth-most populous city in Germany. With slightly over a million inhabitants (1.08 million) within its city boundaries, Cologne is the largest city on the Rhine and also the most populous city both of the Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Region, which is Germany's largest and one of Europe's major metropolitan areas, and of the Rhineland. Fun and colourful artwork showing a young girl in a green dress running towards the water with toys in her hands, with the stylised text printed across the top and bottom of the poster in white, black and red letters. Svendborg is a town on the island of Funen in south-central Denmark, and the seat of Svendborg Municipality. Condition: Excellent condition, minor creasing.. Country of printing: Denmark, designer: Eva KH, size (cm): 74x49, year of printing: 1936.

Original vintage travel advertising poster for Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a ski town in Bavaria, southern Germany. It is the seat of government of the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen (abbreviated GAP), in the Oberbayern region, which borders Austria. Nearby is Germany's highest mountain, Zugspitze, at 2,962 m (9,718 ft.). The town is known as the site of the 1936 Winter Olympic Games, the first to feature alpine skiing. It is also a favoured holiday spot for skiing, snowboarding, and hiking, having some of the best skiing areas (Garmisch Classic and Zugspitze) in Germany. During World War II, Garmisch-Partenkirchen was a major hospital center for the German military. After the war, it was used by the U.S. military as a recreation center for U.S. military men stationed in Europe and their families. The poster features an artwork of an Alpine scene in Spring, with the snowy mountains and a lake in the background. A white baby goat chews on a yellow flower, possibly the Alpine globeflower, and stands on a sloping, grassy hill with red, yellow and purple flowers, possibly the spring crocus. Condition: Good condition, pinholes, minor staining at left edge. Country of printing: Germany, designer: Senger Oberjoch, size (cm): 84x59.5, year of printing: 1950s.

A ride around Godmanchester on 'Nero' - a 1915 Burrell Showman's traction enginefollowed by a pub lunch. Apart from the driver and steersman, there is a small seat which is a platform over the coal bunker - this is where the successful bidder will view operations! If a few people want to come along, the vintage trailer which has seating for a dozen or so can also be hooked on! Now in private ownership, Nero is a 1915 Burrell 5nhp Showman's Road Locomotive and was originally supplied new to Bostock and Wombwell's Travelling Circus, hauling loads from Glasgow to Cornwall.

A Chinese Imperial yellow ground rectangular silk throne seat cover finely embroidered in blue, orange, brown, green, cream, etc. with plants including, fungus, peonies, bamboo, prunus, pine around a central peony. Later cloth backing, Qianlong period, 18th century, 133cm x 103cm. A similar throne seat cover is in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art, accession no. 42.8.154 Upon initial inspection the item has been placed onto a velvet backing, there is some fraying and light lifting to the gilt, bullion work in areas. It is good overall, there is some further slight lifting to the material but it is good overall. The silk is good, it would benefit from a clean but generally good overall. We are putting no further images up, there are plenty of images already, we are are not doing high resolution images, they are not necessary.

A 19thC Cantonese pen box of rectangular form, typically decorated with flowers and panels of figures, predominately in pink, gold and green, 8cm H 19cm W, 10cm D. There is no apparent damage or restoration upon initial inspection, with the exception of internal loss to the lid seat which is not externally visible.

A Chinese 19thC enamel two compartment pen box and cover, decorated with prunus and bamboo on a cracked ice blue ground. 19.5cm L. Upon initial inspection the cover enamels are in good order but it is slightly out of shape and the interior does have cracks, the base has a corner enamel loss of circa 8mm x 5mm and the brass seat for the cover sightly misshapen, there is some cracking to the interior enamel, but overall in reasonable condition.

A REGENCY ROSEWOOD AND NEEDLEWORK STOOL, the needlework seat raised on opposing X-shaped supports joined by a pair of turned stretchers, the supports with bosses to the down-scrolled ends. Seat 65cm by 59cmLacking a boss to inside of one leg. Two bosses with small losses. No breaks. Crack to top of one bow. Stretchers re-glued at one end. Structurally sturdy. No worm.
