The back panel having a scrolling top above a pair of guilloché arches and carved lozenge motifs between run-moulded uprights with peaked finials. The shaped plank arms joined by removable pegs and leading down to the round turned front rail of the plank seat. Standing on X-form legs joined by a plain turned cross-stretcher.

A Fine 17th Century Carved & Inlaid Oak Wainscot Chair. The high cresting rail centred by a lady's face mask and flanked by marguerite daisies, scrolling waves and cusps of fanned leaves above a moulded top rail of chequer inlay and a similarly inlaid central muntin dividing the back into two panels of carved daisy wheels. The plain uprights with carved 'ear-pieces' either side and a shallow panel of dog tooth inlay below. The scroll-end shaped plank arms on bobbin turned supports. The seat having a gadrooned front edge and chip-carved notches to the moulded sides, resting on inlaid seat rails and bobbin-turned legs joined by a turned front stretcher and plain stretchers to the sides and back.From Sir Alistair Graham's Collection, Lower Old Hall, Norland.
