A Victorian ebonised and giltwood open armchair, in the French rococo style, back, seat and padded arms upholstered in dark green velvet, raised on castors, 66 by 58 by 104cm high. Provenance: This chair was one of twelve made by different furniture makers of Liverpool for a Royal visit to the city by Queen Victoria, the chairs were lined up on the railway station platform when she arrived for her to choose one to sit in during the welcoming ceremony, family history relates that of course it was this one Queen Victoria chose! Apparently there was a carved crown on the top of the back rest which was removed at some later stage because it made it uncomfortable to sit in, inherited by decent from the original maker.
A 19th century Georgian style mahogany Gainsborough armchair. With undulating cresting rail, acanthus carvings and raised on slender scrolling supports, 97cm high, seat 47cm high. Arms 65cm wide, seat 66cm wide, feet depth 67cm.Condition report intended as a guide only.One arm with a peg repair to the reverse.
A Chinese late Qing dynasty hardwood armchair or throne with dreamstone panels. The stepped backrest is set with a circular panel flanked with carved prunus blossom, a larger panel is inset into the dish fronted seat which is in turn raised on ruyi form supports with a ring shaped cross stretcher, 91cm wide, 109cm high, 55cm deep. Left arm cracked at the front join.
A 1929 Phelon & Moore Panther Redwing Sports 600, registration number DV 5018, green/chrome. Phelon & Moore (P&M) was formed in 1904 between Joah C Phelon & Richard Moore after the death of the original partner Harry Rayner in 1903. The P&M models were extremely innovative and incorporated the slope engine as a stressed member in the frame. The new Panther range introduced in 1922 at the Olympia show incorporated the new Granville Bradshaw 500cc overhead valve engine, which would be subsequently enlarged in size. The Panther name would subsequently be extended to the entire model range, in the proceeding years. This 1929 600 model was first registered in 1930 and has been with the vendor for many years. The Panther was professionally restored in 1985 and has been kept in a heated workshop for the proceeding thirty odd years. Still presented in good condition this now rare Panther would grace any collection will be offered for auction with old exhaust pipes (s/s fitted), tax discs and a replica pillion seat.
