The upholstery is clean and there are no tears, rips or any damage. The piece is structurally solid and all legs and castors are original. An early 19th century Welsh Windsor style chair, with shaped seat and four angled legs. CONDITION REPORT: The chair is in untouched, original, condition. The top hoop appears to be in good order as do all the spindles to the back. The front left hand spindle that goes through the bottom of the arm is missing. The seat surface is as you see it in the image. There is a lot of old stain and polish on the seat surface some of which has crackled and some lifted. The chair is structurally sound and the legs appear original and in generally good order. The left hand stretcher is broken through in the centre.
A 19th century oak panelled bacon settle, with two cupboards above a box seat with lift up compartment, with panelled front and raised on short feet. Width 39 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This piece comes in to two sections. The top box lifts off. The settle is in very sound structural condition but is as you see it in the image. The timber has obviously been uniformly stained at some point in its life and some of this surface stain has rubbed off around the edges of the top door, the centre door and the base of the seat. The back panels to the piece are original and in good order. The side panels are in very good condition. The front of the seat base is a little worn but flat and in generally good condition. The interior of the piece is fine also. The maximum width of the piece across the cornice is 42.75 ins. The maximum depth of the piece is 30.5 ins from front to back at ground level. The width across the arms is 39 ins, height to top of bench seat 17.75 ins, depth of seat 14.5 ins, depth of cupboard 11.25 ins, depth of top cupboard 12.75 ins. The piece is made entirely from oak and has not had any significant repairs or restoration that we can see. It is generally in good original order. No restoration is required unless the colour of the piece does not suit.
A set of twelve leather upholstered club type chairs, with deep buttoned backs, stuffover seats with studs to front and raised on moulded legs of square section (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: These chairs are probably 15-20 years old. They have come to us from a local hotel. They are all structurally very sound but clearly show signs of use. They all have scuffed legs, stretchers and arms as one would expect. The leatherwork is generally in reasonable condition. All seats are showing signs of wear and there are stress marks across the front edge of all seats. One chair has s mall hole in the seat. All chairs have minor scuff marks to the backs and corners but there are no significant issues. To sum up, the condition as one would expect from use in a hotel lounge.
A pair of 19th century Chinese porcelain garden seats, each with pink ground and decorated in relief with dragons and plants, with moulded borders. Height 21 ins, width across top 10 ins. CONDITION REPORT: One seat has three firing marks to the interior of the piece. These are only visible inside. The same seat has four chips to the bottom edge rim and several other small chips to the raised floral and dragon patterns. These are quite numerous but none are large. There are also scuffs to the corners of the piece which should be visible from our image. The second seat has two old hairline cracks to the interior. Again these are not particularly problematic but they are visible. There is another visible to the exterior on one of the dragon panels approximately 4ins in length. This seat has three chips to the underside and bottom edge of the piece and there are also small chips and losses to the relief moulded design. Both seats are generally crazed.
