A 19TH CENTURY CARVED SHOW WOOD TWO-SEATER SALON SOFA, acanthus carved back, scroll carved arms on cabriole supports, upholstered in floral regency stripe fabric to the seat, back and arm pads, 117cm high, to top of central crest, 152cm wide (to extremities)Condition report – Top back centre of the crest the scroll has been off in the past, evidence of old glue and visible cracks. Cracks / restoration both sides where the arms joins the back frame, cracks to scrolls of arms at front, a little loss and patch to front left one. Scar damage to the left side of the seat carcase, chip / loss to carving below scroll of right arm, back right foot missing castor, replaced with a rolling ball castor, haven’t seen any wormwood, the back of the wood frame is faded and the surface is rough, I would suggest that it has been sat for a long time in a low window or French doors, and become sun faded. The upholstery is okay, the occasional ‘spot’, the frame is sound, the spring seat is good and very comfortable, a good sitting height, more comfortable than other ‘fancy’ occasional sofas I have seen.
A PAIR OF REGENCY PERIOD EBONISED AND PARCEL GILT EGYPTIAN REVIVAL ARMCHAIRS having deeply carved crest rail and single bar back, the armrests terminating in gessoed lion mask and monopedic supports, having remains of typical bergere seat with fitted squab over opposing spiral fluted forelegs and plain rear, 90cm highCondition report – Great lookers, they show signs / distress of age, I am not an expert on this period of chair c.1815, but they are not modern copies, they have age, some sliced losses to the tips of front feet, the split cane seats (under the cushions) are sagging and coming apart from the frames in places.
