Dust cover to the underside of seat is lacking. Some joins opening slightly. The undersides of the rear feet with inset replacement timber from where castors used to sit. A GEORGE II MAHOGANY LIBRARY ARMCHAIR ATTRIBUTED TO PAUL SAUNDERS, C.1755-60 the padded arched back, serpentine seat and armrests covered in damask fabric, with outscrolling arms carved with acanthus leaves, with a cabled edge and with shell terminals, the frieze with a lattice ground carved with Rococo 'C' scrolls, shells and leaves, on shell capped cabriole front legs terminating in scrolled toes, on later brass castors 101.8cm high, 70.5cm wide, 67.2cm deep Provenance Dreweatt Neate, 22nd March 1995, lot 87. From the collection of the late Dr. Gordon Pack. Catalogue Note This chair is conceived in the fashionable French style of the mid-18th century which was popularised by Thomas Chippendale in 'The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Director' published in 1754. The present lot bears similarities to a suite of furniture previously in the collection of Sir John Ward of Dudley House attributed to William Bradshaw or his partner Paul Saunders. Paul Saunders was one of the most important suppliers of upholstered furniture of the 1750s and 1760s. He was based around Carlisle House, Soho Square and 59 Greek Street and established a large workshop. He worked for many high profile clients, including 1st Earl of Leicester and the Earl and Countess of Egremont. See Christie's New York, 11th June 2010, lot 428 for a similar pair of armchairs.

OKA; A SET OF TWELVE LOUIS XVI STYLE OAK FRAMED SQUARE BACK DINING CHAIRS (12)On fluted turned supports, to include a pair of carversCondition report: There are several marks and stains on the upholstery. One chair with the print of the striped ticking of the loose cover has transposed onto the seat. Commensurate with age and use there are some general scuffs, dirt and some white residue in areas, which can probably be cleaned off. Joints seem stable and strong. There are dust sheets to the undersides with fire regulation labels and the internal seat rails have not been inspected. See extra images.
THREE LOUIS XVI STYLE GILT FRAMED OPEN ARMCHAIRS (3)With ribbon tied crest and bow seat on tapering fluted supports, 62cm wide; 99cm highCondition report: Good overall condition, relatively sturdy and decorative. There are the inevitable scuffs, scrathes, dents, small chips and marks commensurate with wear, use and age. Notably rubbing to gilt decoration, notably to the arms. Some areas of gilding have been refreshed. Some joints to the arms are visible and opening, one chair with a slight movement to the chair under a little pressure. Dust sheets to the undersides and one now removed to show the seat rails and sprung upholstery, which has been redone a some point. Chairs are 20th Century, probably the earlier part of the century. One leg with a visible peg mark at the top, possibly resecured. The chair is in solid order and decorative. Leather with a few cracks and scuffs, but in relatively good order. Repaired joints to one arm, with some surrounding chips and losses to the area. See image. The horizontal part of the arm is reattached. The other side with visible joint line but quite solid. Upholstery in reasonably good order having been reupholstered relatively recently. Decorative piece. No obvious signs of worm. Height from floor to top of seat - 45cm
