A set of six Queen Anne walnut and beechwood highback chairs, each with a scroll and leaf carved crest above a caned back and seat, with later squab cushions, the mushroom turned and block legs with a conforming arched front stretcher, comprising; a pair of open armchairs and four side chairs. (6)
A George II mahogany open armchair, the padded back and seat covered with Bargello style fabric, with out-scrolling arms on unusual fan moulded front legs and claw and ball feet, possibly Irish. Provenance: The property of Major Peter Loyd, Towersey Manor, Oxfordshire, sold Christie's, Fine English Furniture, 8th February 1973, lot 37. The property of the Rt. Hon. Sir Mathew Thorpe.
A George III green painted salon armchair attributed to Thomas Chippendale, covered with later damask fabric, the moulded scroll armrests above a serpentine seat and a fluted frieze, on turned tapering fluted legs, the seat rails with the distinctive slots that Chippendale used for cramps and holes where battens were screwed during transit.
