Pair of Venetian Gondolier Ebonized Chairs Pair of Venetian Gilt Ebonized Oak Gondolier Chairs. Each with a serpentine crestrail centered by a shell, adorned by carved seaweed foliage, over a single scrolled arm and a shaped seat, raised on cabriole legs with a conformingly decorated paneled apron rail. 19th Century. Dimensions 28 1/2 x 19 x 14 inches (72.4 x 48.2 x 35.5 cm). Provenance: From The Zellerbach Family, Decorator: Sister Parrish.
Pair of Queen Anne Upholstered Wing Back Armchairs Pair of Victorian Walnut Wing Back Armchairs In the Queen Anne Style. Each rectangular upholstered back, above scrolled arms, over a shaped seat raised on front cabriole legs, headed by shells with padded feet in front, joined by horizontal bars. Mid 19th Century. Dimensions 46 x 32 x 26 inches (116 x 81.2 x 66 cm). The chairs were formerly in the entry hall of the famous English Constitutional Club, of which Sir Winston Churchill resided as the President.
A 19th Century Maori jade Hei-tiki of typical form suspended on thread with bone bead, 10.2 cm x 5.8 cm CONDITION REPORTS Overall with wear and scuffs, lower left section broken off and missing, and the rough edges appear to have been polished slightly where the break has occurred, overall with what appear to be natural splits and occlusions. Some glue attaching the rope to the bone segment. It does not appear to have been glued, any cracks are assumed to be natural to the stone. Provenance: the vendor informs us that the Hei-tiki was given to the family by Lady Talbot de Malahide. Lady Talbot de Malahide gave the Hei-tiki to her Godson, a member of the current vendor's family. Lady Talbot de Malahide has links to Tasmania, the family establishing Malahide in Tasmania (as well as the ancestral seat, Malahide Castle, in Ireland). The family had English and Irish Peerages.
A circa 1900 mahogany and satinwood inlaid bergere settee, the double caned back and sides with swept arms over a single caned seat on square tapered legs to brass caps and castors, bears ivorine tag inscribed "From Jas. Schoolbred & Co. Tottenham Ct Rd London", rear leg stamped "W4253", 122 cm wide CONDITION REPORTS Overal with wear and scuffs. Some fading. Some knocks and chips to edges. Some cracks to veneers and some lifting to veneers. Some breaks and losses to the canework, but overall appears to be in reasonable order.
An early 19th Century Scottish laburnum framed Gainsborough type armchair, the upholstered back, arms and seat with scrollwork show frame to the arms, raised on turned and ebonised ringed supports to brass caps and castors, 98 cm high CONDITION REPORTS General wear and scuffs. Some separating and movement to joints. Old woodworm holes to frame. Various knocks and chips. Some old splits to wood. Some warping / misshaping to arms. One arm with a paler area with woodworm damage. Has been reupholstered and there are various previous tack holes. 'Internal' dimensions of seat (inside the arms) approx 60cm wide x 54cm deep.
A late Regency rosewood framed chaise longue in the Empire taste, the carved show frame back in the Egypto-Classical taste above an upholstered seat with moulded side rails raised on turned and reeded tapering legs to ornate foliate and tassel decorated gilt brass caps and castors, stamped "HHM" to rear leg, 199 cm long
A 19th Century leather and studwork decorated barrel back armchair, the shaped back above scroll arms to drop in cushion on square moulded chamfered legs, 107 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Overall with quite heavy wear and scuffs, patination, wear and age cracking to leather, various scratches, scuffs and dirt, appear to have been some replacement sections to leather e.g. to front of seat cushion, overall the chair appears reasonably sturdy, studs vary in colour so possibly some replacements.

This lot is the cabriole legged chair only. Cabriole legged chair : with various splits, repairs and replacement sections throughout, appears to have been re-varnished.

An early 20th Century Russell and Sons walnut stool, the leather lattice work seat above a shaped apron, raised on octagonal legs, united by stretcher, bears brass label inscribed "Russell and Sons Broadway Worcs" beneath, 38 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Various scratches and marks throughout, leather woven top is broken in places.
A longcase clock, the 25 cm square brass dial with Roman numerals, signed Richard Gilkes Adderbury, fitted an eight day movement, in a carved oak case, 241 cm high See illustration Condition report Report by RB Very much in a market fresh condition, it has probably been barn or attic stored for a number of years, and has clearly not run for some time, the seat board is later, and sits on supports which have also been altered/adapted/changed, the case needs polishing/cleaning, the back board is wormed, it has been raised further with an added plinth, just with a single weight (no key or pendulum). Requires total restoration.
A longcase clock, the 30 cm square brass dial with a silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture, signed Henry Deykin Worcester No 1451, fitted an 30 hour movement, in an oak case, 205 cm high See illustration Condition report Report by RB The dial has probably been cleaned at some point, now appears to be finished in a yacht type varnish, with the gilt spandrels painted probably from a can of gold spray, the seat board probably later, the case, the backboard is crudely/poorly repaired and strengthened, the door has a later lock, and the plinth base is split/repaired, with a trunk door key, a pendulum, and a (rectangular) weight.
A set of six ladderback dining chairs (4+2) (6) Condition report Report by RB Originally a wedding gift to a member of the family, probably in the 1930s, almost with a slight Cotswold school feel to them, with proud wooden pegs. One seat to the carver chair particularly bad, and one other carver chair with a broken seat, with all the other seats really requiring a bit of tender loving care, all chairs with loose joints, hence the cautious pre-auction estimate. All the chairs of a lightish frame construction, one single chair missing a side rail, generally lack lustre in colour, having been stored in a garage for sometime, some water damage, no sign of any worm.
