Bamford Hall was the seat of her great uncle James Fenton, who rebuilt the earlier Elizabethan house depicted in 1841. The present work would therefire have been painted from a description or perhaps copied from an earlier work. The Fentons had extensive interests in textile manufacturing and subsequently banking.++Somewhat dusty and the frame showing the effect of storage in a damp attic or similar, the work not lined, holed or torn.
