Thomas Cox of Cromhall early 18th century walnut cased longcase clock, the two-piece arched brass dial signed to the base and having Roman and Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, the centre engraved with a coastal scene, having twin winding holes for a brass eight day four pillar weight driven movement striking on a bell, the plain case with feather banding to a boxbase, h.229cm Condition Report / Extra Information Dial and case probably a marriage. Arch and dial from two pieces of brass, but match well. Movement and dial appear to belong, no unexplained holes apparent. Pendulum holder bent. Bell appears to be later copy. Seat board later. Case with several minor repairs including some veneers/mouldings. Minor veneer losses and age wear etc. Bad veneer split to side of hood.
A walnut framed camel-back settee, in the Queen Anne style, probably Dutch 18th century, upholstered and close nailed in 18th century tapestry, the shaped back above out-scroll arms and double serpentine padded seat, all on slender octagonal cabriole gaitered legs, headed with acanthus leaves and padfeet, upholstery distressed, w.163cm, d.53cm, h.109cm Condition Report / Extra Information Second leg front right with chip to scroll at top. Otherwise all legs good. No apparent breaks or repairs.
