SIMPSON, William (ill): The Seat of War in The East, 1st & 2nd series, bound in one volume. L, Paul & Dominic Colnaghi, 1855-56. Fo. (560 x 380mm); with 81 tinted lithographic plates (including the two lithographed pictorial titles). Twelve pages of text to each series. (Simpson accompanied the British Expedition to the Crimea and his images were drawn on the spot). Half leather, rebacked; a few plates misbound, but all present; only two of the tissue guards remaining; quantity of key plans cut out and preserved in a back pocket; occasional light foxing; a few tears away from the image, But 3 affecting the image: #30 (very slightly), #32 (across the middle), and #33 (very slightly to image, but part of the blank margin cut out with loss). Occasional light foxing. Sold as a collection of plates, not subject to return.
Original vintage poster promoting "good health habits in school and at home." One of a series featuring an older sister, her younger brother and their dog, Scamper, accompanied by a short and fun educational rhyme used "to decorate a child's room, for group discussion, art and craft projects, classroom decoration and as a basis for health programs and dramatization." Published by Kenworthy Educational Service Inc, Buffalo, NY, USA in 1952. Fantastic colour illustration of a dog watching a boy eating an apple while reading on a window seat with snow on the trees outside, by the artist Charles Twelvetrees (1888-1948), famous for his drawings of children and creating Valentine's Day cards. The original artwork used for these posters is believed to date to the 1930s. Good condition, pinholes in top corners. USA,1952. Designer: Charles Twelvetrees. Size (cm):31x21.5
17th/18th Century Oak Monks Bench/Table Settle on turned legs, plain stretchers. The base showing good age and wear to the feet / front stretcher, historic worm, the seat possibly a replacement with older oak plank. 167cm length x 75cm width table top/back, 125cm length x 47cm width bench, 77cm height as table (all measures approximate)
