A cast iron cell patterned garden bench seat. Height to top of back 89 cm, width 188 cm, maximum depth +/- 55 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The bench is structurally sound and appears to be in generally fairly good order. There have clearly been some repairs to the back, weld marks being visible at the top right-hand corner and around some of the circular sections of the latticework. The back also shows fractures where it joins the base. The repaired sections are visible to the right-hand side of the back and may well be visible from our images. It does not look as if the back has been off but welds appear in places indicating breaks in the original ironwork. The arches between the legs have also had repairs as have the rear leg joints on the left-hand side. The right-hand side appears fine. The latticework seat has also had welded repairs in places. It is a little difficult to see the full extent of the repair work due to the paint. The bench does however appear to be structurally very sound.
A late 19th century carved oak settle, continental with carved panelled back, lift top seat and raised on scroll feet. Height 105 cm, width 150 cm, depth 46 cm. The left figure has a very small loss to the base. The top rail is in good condition. The back panels have all shrunk a little and there are slight gaps visible. The seat is flat and not split or warped but does have some old surface stains. The sides and front of the settle are in good order and simply dusty. The rear panels are original and in good order. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
