A First World War laminated hardwood propeller from a Martinsyde G100 "Elephant" biplane fighter/bomber, 103ins overall, stamped "Avro Y120100H.P. Beardmore Daimler Martinsyde Biplane" and No. 266 Note : The Martinsyde G100 was built originally as a long range, single-seat fighter and escort machine but on the basis of its size and weight was reclassified as a day bomber powered by 120 horsepower Beardmore piston engine. A George IV mahogany metamorphic library armchair, attributed to Gillows; the reeded back with scrolling arms and shell carving, raised on reeded sabre legs conforming to the `Hackwood Variant` seen in the 1823 Lancaster sketch book and illustrated in Susan Stewart, originally with caned seat now missing, the red leather squab seat is original but distressed. NB: The is chair is stamped H.H. on the front rail, although H.H. has never been fully identified, it is generally to be accepted as the mark of the journeyman Henry Holmes, this example being part of the distinct group with strong connections to Gillow`s Workshops.
