A George III mahogany side chair in Chinese Chippendale style, the pagoda top rail above a fret and pierced splat back on fret carved front legs with pierced stretchers, together with a set of six George III 'Country Chippendale' mahogany side chairs each with a pierced splat back and a drop-in seat. A giltwood long stool in Louis XVI style, the padded seat upholstered with later striped fabric above a laurel decorated frieze on leaf carved stop fluted tapering legs, 19th century, 44.5cm high, 150.5cm wide, 53.5cm deep.Provenance: The Property of a Lady, removed from a cottage on the Stourhead Estate.
A Louis XVI style carved giltwood fauteuil after the model by Jean-Baptiste Sené, the leaf and flower head top rail above Doric capital columns and downswept acanthus carved walnut arms, the barrel front seat with an entrelac carved frieze and spiral fluted legs, 19th century. This fauteuil is based on the celebrated suite of furniture supplied for Marie-Antoinette's 'cabinet intérieur', her private apartment at the Château de Saint-Cloud in 1787. In October 1787 Jean Hauré received the order to furnish the grand cabinet and this was entrusted to Sené, Vallois and Régnier. This famous suite which survived the revolution was amended with later copies and it was reproduced throughout the 19th century.
A Regency mahogany scroll end sofa, with a ribbed tablet back above plush upholstered back and seat with a squab cushion and bolsters, the scroll arms with gilt brass rondels and on splay legs to brass paw sabots and castors, 88cm high, 203cm wide, 67.5cm deep.Provenance: The Royal College of Ophthalmologists removed from 17 Cornwall Terrace, London.
An early Victorian cream painted and parcel gilt side chair, the moulded frame decorated with leaves and flowers with an oval padded back and seat upholstered with petit point needlework on cabriole front legs with leaf scroll toes.Provenance: The Property of a Nobleman. Lot 286 – side chair. Old cracking and losses to the cream paint especially to the back legs. Old cracks to the seat frame. Old tears to the back of the silk on the back of the chair. The needlework back and seat a little worn in places and a little faded. Some further old chips to the edges of the gilding and to the carving. Some old worm holes visible. Some later blocking under the seat.
A set of ten George IV mahogany dining chairs, inlaid with ebonized stringing, the curved tablet back above a laurel wreath and ribbed splat above a drop-in seat on ribbed and ring turned baluster front legs, united by an 'X' stretcher, possibly Scottish or North Country, comprising: a pair of open armchairs and eight side chairs. (10) Lot 299 – set of ten George IV dining chairs. Some losses to the rondels on the top of the uprights. Some are present but there are some with chips and with losses. Some of the joints are a little loose and need strengthening. Some minor old cracks to the top rails and one armchair has veneer cracks and splits to the back edge of the seats. Some old scuffs and wear to stretchers. One chair has an old break to the front right leg which needs attention. Some old breaks to stretchers. Some watermarks to legs. The arms are a little loose on the armchair. One chair with a section of veneer missing to the back edge of the back seat rail. One chair with some old wood worm holes visible to the back edge of the seat rail. Overall these are fine set of chairs in generally reasonable condition but need a little attention so some restoration would be required.

An oak settle, the panelled back carved with foliate lunettes above a twin hinged box seat, with bobbin turned arm supports, 17th century elements, 132.3cm high, 121cm wide, 46.5cm deep.Provenance: Sir Henry Russell Hornby, Bt, (1888-1971), 2nd Baronet of Brookhouse, of Barraclough, Clitheroe, Lancashire and thence by descent.
A pair of mahogany wing armchairs in George II style, on leaf capped cabriole front legs and claw and ball feet, late 19th / early 20th century. (2) Lot 464 – pair of wing armchairs. The covering is missing to the seat on one chair, it is now just calico. The upholstery is worn overall and in need of replacement. The seats are a little firm. Old wear, scuffs and dents to legs and feet with some minor chips to carving. One back leg possibly replaced on one chair.
A Victorian yew low back Windsor armchair, with an elm seat on turned legs united by a crinoline stretcher. Lot 54 – Yew Windsor armchair. Some old cracks to the arms and to the bow back. Old worm holes visible to the elm seat and predominantly to the back legs. An old crack to the back edge of the seat. Some timber cracks to the back of the front right leg as you are sitting on it. Also an old chip and cracks to the front of that leg. Wear to the tips of the legs. Generally in good usable condition.
