A circa 1870 Vélocipède. This bicycle has green-painted wheels, 36-inch driving and 30-inch rear, black-painted iron frame with conventional brake mechanism intact, operated by twisting 26-inch handlebars with later wooden grips, hock rests, a good and original seat pan, 8-inch cranks and triangular pedals. The wheels are sound, certainly useable, and the iron tyring is tight and probably original.
A Juvenile Rear-Steering Open-Front Tricycle. Probably dating circa 1885, a very rare small size tricycle having a dark green-painted frame; the driving and support wheels are 30-inch, the rear steering wheel 15-inch, the latter controlled by the right-hand stirrup handle. The crank, pedals, chain and wheels all look original, but the padded seat has been replaced.
A circa 1870 Vélocipède. An English pattern bicycle with its original 36-inch front wheel in remarkably good condition with its original enamel finish, the 30-inch rear wheel being a quality replacement, and also in good fettle. The bearings have been refurbished, and the steering head is sound; the seat support has apparently been replaced, the twist grip 28-inch handlebars have turned oak grips, and also featured are triangular pedals, hock rests and a brake. A much later 20th century candle lamp is fitted.
A 5" Gauge Bogie Riding Trolley with brakes, substantially made with roller bearings to axles, twin brake cylinders or manual handle acting on pads to all wheels, dual hooks (for mixed-gauge haulage), detachable padded seat 33" long and side/foot-boards for raised-level running, these painted in brown/cream, G-VG, slight surface rusting to unpainted steel parts, dusty (4 parts)
A ‘Tulip’ dinner table, designed by Maurice Burke for Arkana, rosewood veneered circular top with brushed aluminium pedestal base, circa 1975, underside of weighted base moulded 'Arkana 22', diam 121cm, height 65.5cm; together with six 'Tulip' chairs, on aluminium swivel bases with four-branch supports, the black fibreglass shells moulded mark to underside 'Arkana 116', cream upholstered seat pads, width 61cm, height 74cm.Footnote: This lot is subject to CITES regulations and offered with a CITES Article 10 license ref: 594208/01
