A Prince of Wales Investiture chair, 1969in red stained ash, plywood and elm, designed by Anthony Armstrong-Jones, Carl Toms and John Pound, manufactured by Remploy, impressed to backrest in gilt with Prince of Wales feathers and motto 'Ich Dien', with upholstered seat cover in red wool mix fabric, stamped to undersideheight 8.5cm., width 54cm., depth 48cm.Condition: In good overall condition, original seat cover fabric, foam perished and in need of replacement, wear to end of arm rests, and corners, slight wear lower legs.
A 19th century mahogany loo seat. CONDITION REPORT: This loo seat has a crack straight through the front of the seat from front to back. This is visible from the top and is roughly 5 cm in length. Overall the rest of the seat is structurally sound. The hinges work and the top opens and closes comfortably. There is distressing to the top apparent and small losses with age and scratches. Overall in reasonable condition but with that one significant crack.
An early 19th century mahogany armchair, with exposed moulded showframe and raised on turned and lobed front legs terminating in castors. Height to top of back 107 cm, width across arms 76 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chair frame is solid, however the arm as you look at the chair on the left-hand side is very slightly loose. The rear left-hand leg of the chair appears to have some water damage to it with slight discolouration and veneer lifting. The front left-hand castor is corroded and will not move. The rear right-hand leg again has some losses. The right-hand leg is in good order and we can see nothing untoward other than age-related wear. The upholstery is worn through at the arms and at the seat and is discoloured and tatty in other places.
A set of eight mahogany ladder back dining chairs, with faux green leather drop in seats, six singles and two carvers. CONDITION REPORT: One carver chair is tight and has age related wear, dings, etc. nothing untoward. The second carver, as you look at the chair, the left-hand arm is very slightly loose, other than this it is age related wear, dings, etc. The single chairs, one is loose and has historic woodworm to both front legs, both areas of which have been rubbed. One back leg has been broken and repaired, there are some losses to the other rear leg. Another is loose and has historic woodworm to the front right-hand leg, there are also repairs and possible historic woodworm to the rear leg. Another has a broken top rail and there are also signs of historic woodworm in this part. It is also loose, and the front two legs show signs of historic woodworm, minor repairs, etc. Height of carver 91 cm, width across arms 69 cm, seat height +/- 44 cm.Single chair height 91 cm, width 48 cm. The upholstery is generally in good order but does have cat claw marks across the chairs.
A George III mahogany carver dining chair, with turned cresting rail, shaped arms, a drop in tapestry seat and front cabriole legs on pad feet. (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The frame is loose, particularly in the rear left-hand corner as you look at the chair. The right-hand arm where it joins the frame at the top has been broken and repaired. There are cracks at the front of the front left-hand leg at the top. Turning the chair upside down one of the stretchers is broken and loose and most of the joints have been repaired at some point. We cannot see any evidence of woodworm.
A 17th century carved oak Wainscot type chair. Height to top of back 94 cm, width across arms 61 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chair is generally quite tired. It is loose at the joints and has large amounts of historic woodworm. There is a crack to the top left and one of the rear panels is cracked all the way through. There is a section of the seat missing at the rear and the rear left-hand side is again severely woodwormed.
A Louis XV style carved and upholstered settee, of oval form and small proportions. 127 cm wide, 74 cm height to top of back. CONDITION REPORT: The upholstery is all intact, both to the back of the frame, the seat and the cushion itself so it is firm in all places. Be aware there are elements of dirt and staining to the back, upholstery , seat and cushion but it is all there and complete.
A 19th century mahogany Windsor chair, with pierced splat back, solid seat and crinoline stretcher. Height 102 cm, width across arms 59 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chair has age related wear, marks to the seat probably where somebody has been wearing denim jeans with buttons on. The left-hand arm as you look at the chair is slightly loose at the joint and this is also affecting the back of the chair.
A pair of Howard & Sons London oak armchairs, with carved top rail, the back seat and arms upholstered in deep buttoned leather, the arms with turned fluted supports and legs to match raised on brass castors, one chair with plaque to rear Howard & Sons Ltd, 25 26 27 Burners Street London W. Height 102 cm, width at arms 72 cm, height at seat 45 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chair on the left of the main photograph is structurally sound. The showframe timbers are generally in good order, just a little age-related wear, we can see nothing untoward. The next chair is again structurally sound. The showframe is in good order and we can see nothing untoward other than age related marks. The leather upholstery obviously is extremely tired and worn through in a number of places.
Six George III mahogany dining chairs, circa 1775 with stuffover seats and backs with brass studs and raised on moulded front legs. Height to top of back 95 cm, width across seat front 57 cm. CONDITION REPORT: All the chairs are in good order, showing age-related wear, dents etc but nothing untoward.
