A 19th century Italian Renaissance Revival carved fruitwood hall chair, being a later version of a 'sgabello', the profusely carved frame with a pierced back surmounted by a face mask below a shell and flanked by C scrolls, the side formed as caryatids, the solid seat dished and carved with decorative edges, the front legs joined as a shield form with similar face mask and caryatid motifs, 48 by 56 by 109cm high.
