The leather is worn and cracked in some places, particularly the armrests. The seat has some fading. Padding is okay but a little flat. All studs present but some have lost their finish. The gilding to the frame worn with a few knocks, with some splits to the left and right lower section of the arms. The feet worn. The arms with a small amount of separation to joints and a slight wobble however generally the structure feels sturdy. Sprung seat firm. Generally appears in good structural and cosmetic order, although the upholstery would benefit from cleaning.

A pair of upholstered armchairs by George Smith, of recent manufacture, in the Howard & Sons 'Bridgewater' style, each with pale blue herringbone upholstery and front turned supports, with loose covers,86cm wide104cm deep89cm high,with a matching stool (3)Condition ReportVery light wear and a few extremely light marks to upholstery. One or two small knocks to supports. The loose covers with some dirt and discolouration, with a mark to the bottom edge of the stool cover. Joints sound and solid and both chairs and stool appear in good structural and cosmetic condition and are ready to place. The chairs are sprung, with feather- filled seat cushions. The stool appears foam and feather-filled. Upholstery appears to be a cotton herringbone, and the loose covers linen. Manufacturer's labels are lacking beneath all pieces, however we understand that they were reupholstered around 6 years ago, which is when the labels may have been removed, with confirmation from the vendor that they were purchased from George Smith on the King's Road several years before that. The cushions and springs appear in good order. The fabric is mainly good but there are some red marks/stains to the back (see additional photos). There's expected wear to the underside of the feet and the piping to one has come unstitched. Overall the sofa is in in good aesthetic condition and ready for use.
