Fourteen Folio qtr. bound volumes containing manuscript copies of Solicitor's correspondence ( 'Letter Book' ) from the 19th.Century. She is one of those white faced girls who are subject to fainting fits. Otherwise she looks a strong girl. She admits she is subject to fainting fits in hot rooms. Her mother confirms this."......."As another year of your youngest brother's apprenticeship has expired we shall be glad to know if you and the other members of the family wish the apprenticeship to continue. When some of your sisters were at home last Xmas we understand that they were very dissatisfied with his progress. In one way, judging from his appearance, he certainly does not make much progress." ..... "My Articled Clerk has to serve for 2 months longer before his articles expire. he would like to have some experience of London practice. Will you give him a seat in your office for the next two months?"......."The next day he told Mr. Morrell he should not carry out the contract because one of the houses has not a bay window. The mistake is very annoying as the matter is sufficiently complicated without further difficulties." All life is here! A fascinating and revealing collection of documents that may be of value to social historians, those completing legal dissertations or as an impressive display on the study shelves! First World War Post Card Album. Album containing 20+ Embroidered card evidentially sent by a soldier from the front, one from Ypres for instance with a simple pencilled message " Yours ever, Lennard, 11/3/16." Over 30 more cards of a 'sentimental' nature depicting individual members of the armed forces in thought about sweethearts or wives at home and vice versa, one card with the pencilled message " My Dear Gracie, Just a few lines as we are going in the line tomorrow I think & perhaps I shall not be able to write there." This card stamped in red as 'passed by the field censor.' A further collection of humorous cards - 'They all like their little bit of red!" and "Naughty Netta's knitting knickers for the seat of War". Together with a range of other contemporary cards featuring French locations, some with images of war damage. A card with a printed poem by Corporal G.E. Attwood, 2nd. London Reg.
