A LATE 18TH CENTURY OAK EIGHT-DAY LONG CASE CLOCK having a flat-topped hood, reeded frieze, square glazed door and turned columns, access doors to each side, the slender arched trunk door over a plain base with bracket feet, the brass dial with a silvered chapter ring of Roman hours and Arabic seconds framing the maker`s name John Sutton, Penrith, a rolling date aperture and two winding holes, all within applied brass spandrels 185.5cm(h) sold with weights and pendulum. *** Possibly John Sutton of Carlisle (1744-1825) John Sutton was the son of Quakers John and Ann (Creighton) Sutton of Penrith the family originally from Clifton, Westmorland. Condition Report: Additional blocks under seat board making the dial a possible association., marks and scratches to case etc.

A 19TH CENTURY ANGLO-INDIAN CARVED EBONY CHAIR having a bowed crest-rail profusely carved and pierced with fruit and foliage, scrolling uprights, and padded needlework back, the needlework depicting a woman holding a bowl of fruit, the base section with smaller padded needlework section within a scroll carved surround (the reverse with brace support with conforming carving), the tapering drop-in seat with a needlework depiction of parrots around a bird bath, the scroll carved seat-rail raised on substantial scrolling front supports finishing with animal paw feet, on later castors. 99cm(h) Condition Report: Depletions to blocks at the top of each leg, depletions to back legs, later castors, fading and wear to needlework, some rips and tears to upholstery backing/reverse, movement to back, viewing advised.
