A pair of famille verte and Chinese Imari armorial saucer dishes, Kangxi, 1731, the arms within a famille verte border of flowers, the rims decorated with a phoenix crest, 22cm wide/Note: The arms are of Fenwick of Northumberland, prosperous merchants in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, family seat Brenkley and Morpeth. These dishes were probably made for Mr Fenwick, Chief Supercargo on East Indiaman 'Marlborough' at Canton 1716 (arms: per fess gules and argent six martlets counter charger a mullet for difference; crest, a phoenix in flames proper)/Literature: David Sanctuary Howard, C3, page 188 Condition Report: Good condition overall. No damage or restoration noted. Minor scratching and stacking wear to the enamels.
A Victorian gothic grained oak armchair, the pierced and carved back with triangular pediment and poppy finials above a crest with scrolling surround of primitive lions, the back with arches and set three Tudor sprays and trefoil finials beneath, the unsupported arms with end brackets having an upholstered leather seat on square carved chamfered legs
