A late 19th/early 20th century 18th century style mahogany setteeThe overstuffed back issuing twin scroll carved open padded arms above the overstuffed seat, with brass studs, standing on cabriole legs with ball-and-claw feet. 130 cm wide. CONDITION REPORTS: Some scuffing and scratching to woodwork, one side leg moulding lacking, possibly re-upholstered, upholstery with hole, probably moth, some staining, some damages to arms, some small chips and losses, general wear.

A primitive design Dante/Savonarola style ''X'' legged open-armed Armchair having nicely detailed carving with pagan type symbols including to the top rail, a bladder crest flanked by horned gargoyles and foliage, the arms terminating in ferocious looking Dog of Fo/Lion Dog masks, the concave bent-wood seat with an heraldic symbol in relief with a cap and emerging roots, the lower frieze depicting a well-carved green man and foliage. 23'' wide x 22'' deep x 34 1/2'' high.
