Two very similar George I walnut dining chairs with shell carved and bow decorated top rail over a vase shaped back splat and shaped drop-in seat, raised on foliate carved cabriole front legs to claw and ball feet, 61 cm wide x 46 cm deep x 109 cm high and 64 cm wide x 49.5 cm deep x 106.5 cm high respectivelyCondition ReportChair 1 - Back with splits to the veneers along the grain conducive with age and use. Rear of back dull in colour. Seat rails appear sound though again with some loss in certain areas and replacements of veneers including front right particularly. Legs again appear sound with softening and wear to the carving. The claw and ball feet with replacement lower sections. Also apparent to the back legs. Chair 2 - Very similar to Chair 1 - though the obvious difference to the front seat rail - no shell carved medallion and scroll work to the top of the legs missing if ever there at all. Claw feet in better condition. Otherwise similar condition throughout with the exception of the rear right leg bottom section missing. Several areas of repair and damage as per images.
