An Edwardian mahogany and inlaid bedroom chair, Condition Report: Widest point - 25.25insheight seat from floor - 16ins - back from floor - 34ins.width of seat 23ins - back to front 21.5ins. All castors present - not guaranteed original. No breaks to legs. Appears sound. Wear and tear condition with age and use.
In the manner of Howard & Sons for Morris & Co - A bench seat or sofa on ring turned and tapered simulated rosewood front legs with applied swivel castors, upholstered in Bird pattern jacquard-woven woollen double cloth, 163cm, height of back 83cm and seat height 38cm, S/D.The 'Bird' pattern was originally designed by William Morris in 1878 and the pattern was registered in the same year. It was originally designed for the walls of his drawing room at Kelmscott House. The fabric was probably made at the Merton Abbey Workshop. Morris himself referred to this type of fabric as woven wool tapestry, even though it is not technically a weave, but a double cloth.Provenance - Inherited by the present owner from their father Douglas Hickman, a prominent Birmingham architect. Douglas Hickman was a member of the founding committee of the Birmingham Victorian Society when it was formed in 1967, campaigning for Victorian and Edwardian architecture. He was also the author of 'Birmingham', a book about the architecture of the city published as part of the City Buildings series in 1970. After his death and upon his bequest, the sofa has been on loan to the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and, after 30 years on loan to their collection, has recently been returned to the family.
An early 20th Century camel back two seat settee in the William and Mary style, raised to a walnut frame with three cup and cover front legs united by a serpentine double x-form stretcher, centred by finials, with feather filled seat cushions and pale yellow upholstery, height of back 107cm, width 138cm and seat height 44cm, S/D.

A Regency white painted wrought and cast iron garden seat, early 19th century, of reeded, slatted design, 92cm high, 154cm wideCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, areas of corrosion and discolouration further commensurate with age and storage and use in an outside setting, the painted surface refreshed all over but with chips and losses revealing layers of previous paint below, the corrosion largely appears to be largely superficial and structurally this bench appears to be sound and stable overall. The arched rail to the base is detached where it meats the seat, this appears to have rusted through the weld, it would require some attention to stabilise and maybe a fresh weld, one scrolling upright from an arm is also detached at the top most join, again this would need some stabilisation, the area is quite red and oxidised and would need to be stabilised before any structural damage occurs Condition Report Disclaimer
