Horner Company, New York, the superstructure with a galleried rectangular top over a recess flanked by hinged cupboard doors enclosing cubbyholes, raised above a rectangular top with a hinged slanting lid inset with a gilt-tooled green leather writing surface, opening to reveal a divided interior, projecting over a compartment fitted to the left-hand end with a hinged locking cupboard door and to the right-hand end with two deep drawers, the whole raised on legs joined by a fretwork stretcher, with key, together with a conforming chair with a caned seat, 2 pcs, the desk 52.5`` H x 31.75`` W x 23`` D, est: $1200/1800 Provenance: Private Collection, Calabasas, CA. Eighteenth century Scottish longcase clock with eight day movement, silvered break arch dial with engraved spandrels, subsidiary second dial and calendar aperture, break arch signed - John Peatt Crieff, flanked by engraved hypocamps, in a mahogany case with full length arched door, the hood with fluted columns, dentil cornice and caddy top with central pierced panel, 214cm overall height CONDITION REPORT Good overall condition is fair. Movement has been cleaned but we are unable to say whether it is in full working order. Dial silvering is marked and scratched, some damage around winding holes. Minute hand is missing and dial may not be original to movement. Seat board has been raised and movement and case may be a marriage. Overall, case is good, trunk door hinges have been replaced, hood is missing one side glass and all three finials are lacking. Fretted decoration is damaged
