A brass club fender, extendable, with green leather upholstered corners. Internal width closed 123 cm extending to no less than 150 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height from floor to top of seat 50.5 cm. Maximum external depth 42.1 cm at seat height and 41.5 cm at the base. Internal depth 35.5 cm at base.
A Victorian mahogany library chair, upholstered in green leather, studded and with exposed moulded scrolling showframe and raised on cabriole legs. Width across arms 66 cm, height to top of back 84 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The chair is good quality and structurally very sound with no loose joints. The leatherwork to the back is in good order with no significant scuffs and no perforations. There is a scratch to the centre of the top rail which is a little discoloured but may well polish of, there is no perforation. The scratch runs for +/- 2 cm. The seat is comfortable and well sprung. There are no holes to the leather but there are two areas where the polished surface to the leather is scuffed and a little matt. There are however no perforations. The showframe is in good condition all round. There has been one old repair to the top of the front rail where it joins the right hand leg. A triangular section of the edge moulding has been re-fixed here at some point. The webbing beneath seems very strong. The cotton covering to the webbing is perished at the front edge. We can see no evidence of any repairs to the legs.
A 19th century Charles II style oak chair, having an arched pediment and foliate carved backrest between two turned supports, all above a stuff over seat with turned legs united by an X shape stretcher, all upon turned bun feet. 126 cm high. CONDITION REPORT: The chair is structurally sound with no loose joints. The top arch to the back rail has been broken and re-attached. The repair is firm. It is barely visible from the front but is from the rear where there are some timber losses. The remainder of the back is in good order with only minor surface marks and a small scuff to the top right hand corner beneath the arch. The seat is well upholstered. The legs are all in good order with no repairs. The stretchers are in good condition as are the feet. The colour is generally good.
A pair of Regency mahogany dining chairs, with rope twist top rail, with drop in seats and all upon sabre legs. CONDITION REPORT: One chair is in good order with no issues. There do not appear to be any repairs or restoration. There are no loose joints. The second chair top rail is loose and swivels at the joints but this would easily rectify. The same chair has had an old repair to the top of each leg. There appears to be a peg through to the front rail. There is slight evidence of filler on the outside of both legs. The chair does not have any loose joints. Like the other one it is serviceable in its current state. Both chairs are fairly light weight, both seat covers have clearly been recently upholstered. In our opinion the chairs would be best suited to occasional issue rather than everyday dining.
A Harlequin set of eight Regency mahogany dining chairs, comprising two arm and six single, each with bowed top rail, shaped stiles, stuffover seat and raised on turned tapered front legs. CONDITION REPORT: Armchair one is structurally sound with no loose joints and is serviceable in its current condition. There is evidence of old pegged repairs at the rear of the stiles where the arms join and also where the back rail joins. There are no repairs to the legs. The left hand arm scroll has been detached and re-fixed. The seat in good order. The single chair with the one veneered centre to the back splat is in good condition with no significant issues. The seat is in good order. The pair of chairs with the circular centre to the back support and reeded legs are both structurally sound with no significant issues. One of the pair has had both top scroll tips re-manufactured. The second armchair that matches the three other single chairs is again structurally sound but has had numerous old repairs to the top rail and to the top of the stiles where the arms join. There are no repairs to the legs. The upholstery is serviceable. The three single chairs matching are also all serviceable, but all have evidence of old breaks and old repairs in various places but particularly around the top scrolls. There is also evidence of old woodworm to two of the three chairs particularly on the back rails. Having said this the chairs are serviceable, simply not perfect examples.
A Victorian tub chair, with sprung seat and gold lozenge upholstered material, all upon turned tapering mahogany legs terminating in brass and ceramic castors. CONDITION REPORT: This chair is in generally good condition. The only minor issue is that the castors whilst Victorian are not original. They are also all a little loose. The legs are in good order with no breaks and only minor surface scuffs and marks as one would expect. The upholstery generally seems very good and is certainly serviceable. If the colour scheme fits then reupholstery is not necessary. There is no significant staining, no perishing and no holes in the fabric. The chair is generally very clean, the only issue being the unoriginal castors.
A 19th century yew wood and elm high back Windsor chair, with pierced central splat above the dished seat and supported upon turned legs with crinoline stretcher. 111 cm high (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The chair is structurally sound. There are no significantly loose joints. The condition is generally good as is the colour. The rear hoop has an old stress fracture where it meets the top of the arm. There is no movement however. The left hand upper spindle has a fracture which would easily repair. The arms are in good order as are all of the arm supports and splat back. The seat is in good condition with no splits. All legs are in good order with no repairs or restoration. The crinoline stretcher is in good condition also.
A Regency mahogany bergere armchair, with moulded frame, scroll arm supports and upholstered seat raised on turned tapered fluted front legs. CONDITION REPORT: The chair is missing the original castors. This gives the impression that the chair is a little low. The front legs are in good order other than nibbles to the right hand front edge of the foot and the rear of the left leg has a nibble also. The rear right hand leg has a small timber loss to the right hand side. All legs are structurally sound. The front rail and showframe are in generally good condition. The right hand arm is a little loose at the joint with the top of the leg. There has been an old repair to the right hand side of the chair beneath the top rail. The top rail is structurally sound. The cane work is not old and in generally good order with the exception of the front right hand corner where the seat cushion meets the side of the chair. There are some small breaks at this point and minor losses but this is not particularly problematic. Dimensions - Width across arms 57 cm. Seat depth from front of frame to cane 54 cm. Seat width between arms 50 cm. Height to bottom of front rail 26 cm. Height to top of back 89 cm. Width across back at widest point 51 cm.
A pair of early 20th century Classical Revival office chairs, each with upholstered back rest and arms, with slatted supports on a sprung seat supported by front cabriole legs united by a crinoline stretcher and with applied label verso for "E.A. Bramley, Architectural Manufacturer, Sun Works, Newcastle- upon-Tyne". Width 61 cm, height 90 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The upholstery to both chairs is in very good condition generally. There is one small hole to the underside of the rear scroll on one chair which is approximately 3 mm in length. This is very minor and the only real issue with the covering. Both chairs have had some damage to the rear hoop just below the splat. In both cases there is no movement but the repairs are visible on both chairs in the centre beneath and to the sides of the centre splat. One chair has a further repair to the left hand side of the horseshoe beneath the second vertical spindle. Both chairs are structurally fairly sound and all legs and stretchers are in good condition. There are springs protruding from the seat of one chair and the webbing will at least need replacing.
An Edwardian painted satinwood armchair, with Prince of Wales plume, stuffover seat and raised on tapered legs of square section terminating in spade feet. Width across arms 53 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chair is structurally sound throughout but there are some small issues on the joins. These are particularly on the top right-hand corner of the back rest where the arms join the back rest and the sweeping arm supports which join the arm rests. The front right-hand leg looks to be at a very slight angle and may need attention. The seat is well upholstered in a modern material and has a spring and horsehair filling. The painted decoration appears to be in good order throughout with no major issues. The chair appears to be free from any breakages.
A set of two carver arm and four single Victorian mahogany dining chairs, each with scroll carved top rail, drop in seat and raised on turned front legs (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: All chairs are structurally extremely sound with no significantly loose joints. None of the chairs appear to have had any breaks to the legs. Some do however have evidence of strengthening repairs particularly where the rear legs attach to the back rail. These are evidenced by the diamond shaped patches visible on some of the chair legs. The chair backs are also all strong and there do not appear to be have been any repairs. Both armchairs are free from woodworm. Two of the single chairs have traces of woodworm to the softwood on the back and front rails. There is however only one hole visible in the mahogany to the front of one chair. The seats have clearly been recently upholstered. The chairs could be used in their current state without the need for any work.

A set of six Victorian oak dining chairs, lightly Gothic inspired with horsehair filled stuffover claret seats upon square chamfered legs. CONDITION REPORT: The chairs are all structurally very sound with no signs of any breaks, significant damage or restoration. There are no loose joints. All chair backs are in generally good order.
