A Victorian carved and pierced walnut framed tub back sofa, with serpentine seat on scroll supports, 200cm wide x 97cm high. Condition Report The upholstery is later and a little tatty, the stuffing and springs are good and the frame is solid with no breaks, it has old marks and scratches and has been repolished, overall in good condition. No sign of worm activity.
An 18th century oak box seat open arm settle, with triple panel back, 100cm wide x 109cm high. Condition Report The seat is 44 cm deep. right arm with wobble, will need re fixing. The lift top seat with later replacement strip of wood where the hinges are, poor colour match. In my opinion this seat is made up from old 17th century timber, i.e the back was a coffer front.
A George III month-going oak longcase clock, the brass arch top dial detailed 'George Lumley, Bury', two weights and pendulum, 221cm high. Condition Report The case has old repairs, the movement is very dirty and requires professional cleaning. The weights are substantial and heavier than usual 8 day movement. Movement very dirty, requires full restoration, the strike/silent hand is lacking. The cheeks are built up and the the seat board probably not original. Case and movement probably associated. Base of case later. Dial door loose from hood.
A pair of 19th century Continental painted hall chairs in the Baroque style, each pierced back incorporating a central cartouche and a pair of winged griffins, above a drop-in seat and seat rail carved with a mask, raised on turned front legs (one chair lacking a section of back leg). 110cm by 73cm by 47cm
A Scottish Regency rosewood library chair, the tapered top rail and turned finials above a spindle back and elongated arms, set on reeded stumps, above an upholstered seat, raised on reeded baluster legs with brass caps and castors. 95cm by 67cm by 70cm Note: The overall shape of this chair, specifically the very deep seat and elongated arm rests are reminiscent of a set of three laburnum easy chairs in the collection of the Gladstone family at Fasque. The related dining chairs were sold by Christie's in May 2008, but the easy chairs were retained in the family collection.
