A matched set of six 19th century Lancashire spindle back dining chairs, each with rush seat and turned front legs with stretchers. CONDITION REPORT: Four of the six chairs are structurally very sound with very little movement at the joints. One of the four has an old repair to the bottom back rail. The repair is structurally solid. The same chair has a loose side slat and there are no repairs to the legs or stretchers of the first four chairs. All chairs have breaks to the rush seats. Chair 1 one break, chair 2 five breaks, chair 3 two breaks, chair 4 sixteen breaks. The two chairs previously not mentioned are loose at the rear joints. One chair has a repair to the front left hand knee. The other chair has no repairs. Both have breaks to the rush seat, chair 1 one break, chair 2 one break. All seats are serviceable but as stated beginning to show signs of wear.
A Regency/William IV mahogany Bergere child's chair and stand. CONDITION REPORT: The cane work to the back has some very minor losses. The seat has losses and sections missing on the front edge. The chair frame is in good condition with no breaks or damage. The tray looks later (Edwardian) the base has scratches to the top where chair legs have rested. It is however structurally sound. The base looks a little later than the chair itself.
A set of four Victorian rosewood dining chairs, with drop in seats and raised on turned and faceted front legs. CONDITION REPORT: The chairs are generally all structurally sound. One has slight movement at the point where the rear leg joins the side rail. This is slight. All chairs could do with a sympathetic polish. The colour is however generally good. One chair has had a vertical peg repair on the left hand side of the top rail. This is visible but not particularly problematic. All seats have clearly been fairly recently re-upholstered and are in generally good condition with only minor surface marks. There are no visible repairs to any of the legs. Width across front 45.5 cm, width of front of seat squab 40 cm, height to top of seat 44.5 cm.
A George III oak longcase clock by E. Foster Carlisle, with thirty hour movement, long trunk door and 12 inch square dial with date aperture, also inscribed "John & Mary Foster". Height 203 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Whilst we have not had the clock running as the pendulum is missing the metal suspension, when weight is applied to the going train the clock does tick. When the hands are advanced the date wheel does advance. It is difficult to tell whether the movement and case have always been together. The seat board is old however the clock cheeks are both different heights and have short sections of timber between the top of the cheek and the seat board. The mask around the dial fits reasonably well. The right hand return to the cornice has a loss to the rear right hand corner. Both pilasters are loose and there is some loss to the plaster work at top and bottom. The glazed door is in good condition and not warped. The sides of the hood are in good order. The main trunk door is not warped. The sides of the trunk are in good condition. The base has a stress fracture to the right hand side. Both sides are slightly sprung. The plinth moulding whilst old is probably a later addition. We have a weight and the pendulum.
A pair of 19th century Chinese green glazed pierced barrel form garden seats. Height 48 cm, diameter +/- 35 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Both seats are in reasonable condition with no significant areas of loss or damage. There are no repairs and no restoration. The seats have clearly been kept outside. The darker coloured seat has four hairline cracks across sections of the openwork. The glaze is also uneven in places. The glaze is also rubbed and a little matt in places. The glaze has rubbed through on some of the buttons around the top lip and base. There are four small glaze chips and several firing marks. The second seat is in generally better condition. There are two hairline cracks similar to those on the first seat. The glaze is generally thicker and in better condition on this seat. There is less rubbing and fewer glaze chips. Both seats have crazing and scratches to the glaze particularly on the top surface.
An oak monks seat, with circular hinged top, box base with lift up seat and raised on short bun feet. Diameter 68.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This lot is in extremely good condition with no damage, no repairs and no restoration. There is no evidence of any woodworm and the piece is structurally very sound. There are some very minor surface marks and blemishes but no significant problems. This is probably 1930's.
A 19th century rustic child's stained wooden armchair. Width across arms 36 cm, height to top of back 54 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chair is in generally good original condition. We cannot see any evidence of any repairs or restoration. There is no substantial damage. The black varnish/painted finish has clearly been on the chair for a very long time but whether this is original or not we do not know. There are numerous old surface scuffs and scratches. There is evidence of old long gone woodworm to the underside front edge of the seat. This is minimal. The front high stretcher is very slightly loose on the left hand side, the rear high stretcher similarly. There is almost no movement at all in the legs or spindles.
A late 19th century oak library chair step. CONDITION REPORT: This is a little tired. The back slats and stiles are in good condition. The seat middle panel has been screwed through the top to the bearer underneath. The hinges work as they should. There is a break to the timber on the seat side of the hinge. The piece opens as it should. The step supports are in good condition. The treads are all a little worn but have no significant losses. The piece is structurally sound. The only real issue is the seat itself and the dirt.
A set of eight 19th century rush seated ladderback chairs, two arm and six single (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The armchair is in good order with no issues. The seat is in good condition also. The single chairs all have serviceable seats with only minor wear to the rush. Two seats have one break to a section of rush. The others only have surface abrasions and small scuffs. The rear legs of all chairs have been tipped. Five of the chairs are structurally sound. One is a little loose at the joints. Other than the tipped repairs we can see no evidence of any significant breaks. One of the narrow seat side rails is missing. Several have stress fractures and two are a little loose.
A set of four Victorian rosewood salon chairs, with foliate carved showframes, stuffover seat, serpentine front rails and raised on cabriole legs. CONDITION REPORT: These chairs are all structurally very sound and solid. There is no movement at the rear joints. There are no significant repairs to any of the legs. The colour is generally very good. The upholstery is clearly fairly recent and all seats are in very good condition. The chairs could be used or resold in their current condition without the need for any work.
A late 19th century child's Orkney chair, typical form, with rush back, solid seat and legs with stretchers. Height to top of stile 56 cm, width across arms 41.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The rush back is in poor condition with disintegration and losses to the top. The first two lines of rush are completely missing and teh third and fourth damaged to the top left hand corner. The framework is structurally generally sound. There are no repairs and no restoration. The piece is struturally fairly sound. The seat is in poor condition with a lot of old woodworm holes, stress fractures and losses to the top surface. It is soft in places. The frame is generally allover scuffed.
A set of six Regency mahogany dining chairs, two arm and four single chairs, each with bowed top rail, shaped stiles, drop in seat and sabre legs. CONDITION REPORT: Both armchairs are structurally sound but both have had work. The top splat has been broken away from the upright on one chair and repairs are visible from both the front and back. The seat corner blocks have been replaced and re-glued on both chairs. There are no loose joints and no repairs to the legs. There is evidence of old long gone woodworm in the soft wood on the back rail of one chair. Three of the single chairs are in generally very good condition with no loose joints. One of the three has old long gone woodworm to the soft wood behind the front rail. The fourth has a break to the front of the left hand knee and a crack to the right hand knee. The same chair has a pegged repair to the rear left hand leg. All seats have been recently recovered and are serviceable. Please note that having looked carefully at the chairs three appear to be period and three seem lighter in weight and possibly later. One of the armchairs has the rear back splat in upside.
A George III oak longcase clock, by Fiske, Portsmouth, with eight day striking movement. Height including finial 235 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement is ticking away. We have the weights and pendulum. The movement strikes when advanced. The dial is in generally good order with some minor scuffs and scratches. There is some fading to the cartouche around the name and to the minute markers. The seat board is original. We do not think that the piece is a marriage. The hood is in generally good condition with no significant losses or cracks. The door shuts as it should. The trunk door is not warped. The sides of the clock are in good condition. The base is in generally good order. The bottom plinth is likely to be later. The back boards are original.

A 19th century oak and mahogany banded longcase clock, with painted dial and thirty hour movement, the case with quarter column corners and raised on bracket feet. Height 228 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The case is in generally good condition with no significant issues. There are no major splits or losses. The door is not warped. The hood is a little dirty. We have a weight but no pendulum. The seat board is original. As are the back boards.
A Regency mahogany settee, with exposed showframe. Width 225 cm, height to top of back 95 cm, depth of seat 56 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The settee requires recovering. It is however structurally very sound. There are some small areas of cross banding missing to the exterior of the frame approx 4cm in total. The front show frame is in good condition all around. The front right hand leg also. The front left hand leg has had a break and repair to the bottom left hand corner. The repair is very solid but visible. There is a bracing patch to the rear of the leg. This could easily be improved. The rear right hand leg has had a break. This has been well repaired but the break line is visible. This is a minor issue.
