An exceptionally fine and rare carved Irish mahogany Dining Chair, c. 1775, after a design taken from Thomas Chippendale's "The Gentleman and Cabinet Maker's Directory," London c. 1754. The carved splat back over a generous seat covered in hide, with reeded apron, pierced stretcher and reeded legs. (1) Provenance: Crosshaven House, Co. Cork. This exact Chair appears at page 211, in The Knight of Glin & James Peill's book, "Irish Furniture," Yale 2007.
