A set of ten Gillows of Lancaster Regency/William IV mahogany dining chairs, comprising two armchairs and eight single chairs all stamped bar one to the underside of the front seat rail, the armchair with a yoke shaped top rail with centre tablet flanked by foliate scroll work with sinuous downswept stiles and arms with lobed and turned arm supports, with stuff over seats upholstered in brown leather, with moulded front and side rails and raised on turned tapered reeded front legs, the single chairs similar. The chairs are substantial and imposing (see illustration).
