Tang Dynasty, 618-907 A.D. A group of two hollow-formed ceramic figures: one a courtly lady sitting on a stool with right foot crossed over the left knee, holding a small goblet in both hands, cat beside her right foot; the other sitting with right foot raised to the seat of the stool, grape held between the fingers being raised to the mouth. Two Victorian piano stools, both with circular upholstered adjustable seats, carved tripod bases.Qty: 2Condition report:The camel coloured seat stool works by way of the adjustable seat screws up and down and remains a sturdy stool. The Green/ blue coloured seat stool does not adjust the height. The original screw thread post seems to be present but it doesn't rise or fall. The seat itself is also fairly unsteady with the platform it rests on being a little loose. The legs on this stool have old bracket repairs to the underside.
Pair of modern elm and yew wood Windsor armchairs, pierced vase backs, turned legs, with crinoline stretchers.Qty: 2Condition report:Both are comfortable to sit in. The height to top of seat is 44cm, the widest part is 50.5cm, they are 103cm to top of the back. Both are slightly twisted and legs dont sit quite flat to the floor. Otherwise no cracks or damages, just light rubbing to the edges. Please see the added photos online.
French beech stool, upholstered seat, carved and scrolled frame, 100x40cm, height 50cm.Condition report:There is a crack to the top edge on the right side, an old repair to one of the top of the legs, and possible splitting to the x-stretchers, otherwise the construction is solid. The top edges of the carved base a little rough but no bad chips to the legs. The top is a little marked and stained. No evidence of worm. Not indication that it im was ever gilt or with gesso work.

CONDITION REPORT: The vehicle has been in a collision which has damaged both doors on the near (passenger) side. There are other minor bodywork imperfections to the rear bumper, driver's door handle, etc. Amber EPC warning light showing. Also Start/Stop System error message showing on display panel. A George III inlaid mahogany longcase clock, late 18th century, the elaborate broken swan neck pediment with urn finials above gilt scrolling foliate painted glass frieze dated 1787, having reeded Corinthian columns with brass capitals, the trunk with satinwood paterae above moulded Gothic style door flanked by cluster columns, on crossbanded plinth with corresponding columns on ogee bracket feet, the arched painted dial signed SAML COLLIER ECCLES, with Roman and Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds dial at twelve, date aperture to centre and rolling moon phase dial to arch, the dial centre painted with a shepherd and his lover, the eight day movement striking a bell, with pendulum and weights, 256cm highProvenance: Property from the estate of the late David Cornwell, best-known as the author John le Carré.Please note that Roseberys do not guarantee the working order or time keeping of any timepiece.Condition Report: Case: With wear consistent with age and use, to include knocks, scratches, splits and wear. The top with left finial detached but present and split to left side. Knocks and chips to cornice. Cracks and scratches to painted glass frieze. Left column is not sitting straight and has split and minor chips to base. Both columns with minor knocks and scratches and minor tarnishing to caps. Right side of hood has restored vertical splits, the left side with general scratching and restored patch to moulding. Chips and splits to seat board and some nails to case under seat board. Door with splits to veneer and with wooden block glued to frame behind door on lower left and splits to top right. The dental frieze underneath the hood with one missing tooth to the left side and one missing to right side. Trunk with minor discolouration to both sides, splits and warping to right side and minor chips to edges, lifting and minor chip to veneer above door. Door does not sit fully flush and with split to the right of the lower hinge. Plinth base with knocks to moulding, splits and warping to front and minor discolouration to sides. Left moulding has been re-glued as has one of the feet. The other feet with some wear. Backboard to case with holes, large cracks repaired with strip of cloth, and with replaced board to top and bottom sections. Dial: Craquelure and minor losses to paint. Chips to paint to dial edges. Minor rubbing to numerals. Some surface scratching. Tarnishing and bending to hands.Movement: Some scratches to backplate. Pendulum guide slightly bent. Tarnishing and bending to pendulum. Property of John Kenworthy-Brown (lot 9, 18, 65, 272-319, 388-397 and 560)John Kenworthy-Browne is an art historian specialising in architecture and sculpture, principally from the neoclassical period. He was educated at Ampleforth College and Wadham College, Oxford, followed by the Courtauld Institute in London. John was the first National Trust curator at Dyrham Park, Gloucestershire, which he opened to the public in 1961. The Queen Mother visited Dyrham on 16th March 1962, and she was pictured with him outside the Assembly Rooms during the visit. After his time at Dyrham, John joined Christies where he catalogued furniture, and it was at Christies that he first became fascinated with sculpture.John has published numerous articles in Apollo, Burlington Magazine, The British Art Journal, Sculpture Journal and Country Life. He wrote the sculpture entries for The Age of Neo-Classicism Exhibition in 1972. He also published Chippendale and his Contemporaries (1975), and he was the co-author of Three Centuries of Furniture (1972) and The Country House Guide (1979).
