A lozengiform cast copper-alloy horse-harness pendant, the surface with two diagonal panels in red enamel, each containing three crosses pattee; a chequered band of blue enamel and plain bronze squares in between; with suspension loop above. 13 grams, 40 mm (1 1/2"). Foster, J. The Dictionary of Heraldry, Feudal Coats of Arms and Pedigrees, reprinted London, 1989. Found Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, UK. The arms are probably based on those of the Peverell family. The Peverell family owned lands in Nottingham, where the family held a seat. These lands were granted by the Duke of Normandy for their distinguished assistance at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 AD.
