Oak Wainscot open Armchair c.late 17th century and later. Panelled back with arch carving. (possibly missing top panel) Silhouette arms with turned supports and a plank seat. Simple form legs to back and turned wooden legs to front. Has had restoration to the back and cut shorter on the legs.
A RARE PAIR OF BULB-POTS DECORATED BY WILLIAM BILLINGSLEY of half-moon form over three bun-feet, the covers with three bulb-cups within a crimped rim, each decorated with an oval sepia panel of country house and grounds in the manner of Samuel Evans, each titled in believed to be Billingsley's identifiable script to the base, 'Stretton, in Cheshire, the Seat of John Leech Esq' and 'Bonechurch, in the Isle of Wight, the Seat of Colonel Hill', both bases impressed 'W ( ***), possibly painted by William Billingsley at Mansfield, 20cms wide Auctioneer's note: we were not able to identify the porcelain mark but previous researchers had suggested Whitehead others have suggested Warburtons or in fact Wood & Caldwell of Burslem Condition Report: crack to one and restoration to covers
