Two similar carved walnut chairs, late 17th century, comprising an armchair, 121cm high, and a high back side chair, 130cm highProvenance: Little Wolford Manor, WarwickshireCondition Report: There are some marks, scratches, chips, splits, abrasions consistent with age and use, some to the extremities and edges.The armchair with a visible split to one spirally turned back support. The finish has a 'bitumisation' type appearance with a matt cracelure type finish in some areas. There are some losses and replacements including the front feet being replacements; a metal brace behind one front leg; evidence of worm including to the seat rails, back and elsewhere. There are three later wood braces to the back rails.The side chair lacking the upper finials; areas with evidence of worm; lacking a section to the carved back.Please refer to the additional images for a visual reference of condition. Y A William IV rosewood X-frame stool, circa 1835, with a damask upholstered seat, 42cm high, 46cm wide, 44cm deepCondition Report: There are some marks, scratches, chips, splits, abrasions consistent with age and use, some to the extremities and edges. There are some losses including chips to the turned feet.There is evidence of old worm including to the seat rail and seat border area.Please note we have not inspected the frame beneath the upholstery and can't comment on the condition and originality of this area. The damask upholstery has some marks.Some wobble to joints, feet are loose, overall the screws may need tightening to secure. Dreweatts cannot guarantee the load bearing capacity of the stool if used as a seat.
