Walt Disney Productions - Pacific Desk Company - an incredibly rare original 1950's / 1960's animator's swivel office / desk chair. Vinyl and fabric two-tone brown seat, with a steel armature leading to a matching brown vinyl back rest. Fully adjustable. Standing on a four-pronged leg, with original castors present. Pacific Desk Company decal present to verso, and a ' Walt Disney Productions 8542 ' badge below. A rare chair, with fascinating provenance.Provenance; owned and used by Mr Richard Bazley in his home office during his employment at Walt Disney, during which time he worked as an animator on Tarzan, Hercules and Pocahontas amongst other projects. Photographs included here showing this exact chair in his animation studio during the period. Bazley had purchased the chair from another Walt Disney animator with whom he was friends.
A late Victorian Royal Commemorative joined oak settle, of local interest, inscribed HRH Prince of Wales, Derby Races November 1888, the carved back depicting a deer in relief within an oval panel, the crest rail carved foliage in deep relief, moulded stiles and rails, foliage carved back uprights, carved arm supports, the back with crystoleum panels depicting race scenes, the inscription carved into the lower back rail, slatted plank seat, lunette carved frieze to seat rail, foliage carved front legs, 95cm high, 110cm wide, 55cm deepThis was made for the Derby Races and presented to the Prince of Wales in 1888, a year after Queen Victoria's golden jubilee in 1887. The inscription is hand carved within the lower back rail.
