EXTRA LOT: A 1966 Honda CS92 Benly Sports, frame number C92-5000121, engine number C92E-5000125, blue. The CS92 is one of the most underrated and undervalued of Honda's early classics, yet arguably is one of the most interesting. Introduced in 1959 the model featured stylish upswept exhausts fitted with perforated heat shields and featured the 15 bhp ***four (not two) stroke*** engine which was capable of 75 mph when new. The CS92 was produced for less than two years and this example is in remarkably original and complete condition. We are advised by the vendor that the engine turns over without any untoward noises, but there is some damage to the seat cover, and in some places there is surface rust on the frame. Offered for auction without any documents this ultra rare early Honda represents possible a once in a lifetime opportunity to own such a machine. No accompanying paperwork. See illustration

This Rocket Gold Star replica has been built to show standard by the vendor, using correct parts. During the build the following works were carried out: the engine was rebuilt with relined barrels (10.5/1 high compression pistons), new head guides and oversized valves, new Amal Mk I 930 twin carb conversion, new exhaust, rebuilt close ratio RRT2 gearbox originally supplied by John Gardner, new clutch plates/primary chain, reconditioned magneto and dynamo, new regulator box, wiring loom, Altette horn and ammeter and powder coated frame. Other new parts fitted include oil lines, wheel bearings, fork stanchions, fork bushes, fork oil seals, taper steering bearing conversion, rear shock absorbers, chain guard, drive chain, headlight and seat. A reconditioned speedometer and revolution counter with new cables were fitted, the wheels were rebuilt with new spokes and chrome rims, the original petrol tank was rechromed, as were the front and rear mudguards, stays, handlebars, levers, switchgear and taps. Where possible the vendor also used stainless steel nuts and bolts and fittings. Since completion it has only been ridden an approximate 100 shakedown miles and will require running-in and final adjustments to the carburettors. This beautifully built and exciting Gold Star replica is now ready to be enjoyed by the next owner. V5C, no MOT, tax exempt See illustrations

It has clearly been recently re-caned and there are no issues. The chair frame is in generally good order with no structural issues. The chair is quite primitively constructed and there appear to be a number of joint repairs above the rear legs on both sides of the chair. These repairs have been dowelled and are structurally sound. There is also some filler to the left and right hand side and the rear of each arm where the arm attaches to the rear stile. These have probably been strengthened and then dowelled. There is water staining to the front rail and legs of the chair and old stress fractures to the legs. The legs are however structurally very sound. The left rear leg has an old repair but again this is structurally sound. The chair could be used in its current state without the need for any further repair or restoration.
