An early 19th century mahogany armchair, with a spindle back, scroll arms, and turned tapering legsReport by RBCushions and padded arms clearly much later upholstery, one of the ball terminals is about 80% complete, with 20% missing from the back, the seat was originally caned, overall has been re-varnished at some point, which is now looking a bit tired and ungainly in parts, the arms on the frame are a little loose, there are four hole drilled into the side rails, possibly for a seat to sit in, nice large brass castors, generally very dirty, but the timber looks attractive where it is worn

Chinese silk covered book containing twelve rice paper paintings with retail label for Wing Tai Hing, Canton depicting emperor, empress, prime minister, etc each 34 x 23 cm with blue silk ribbon surround, 36.5cm x 25.5 cm. Condition Report:1. Emperor - damages on RHS of paper, some losses, foxing spot to the top left on white, otherwise good original condition2 Empress - Some small yekowing to white areas, losses from the pink of throne base by feet, to the bottom left of the image, some losses otherwise good.3 - Prime Minister good condition.4 - His Lady - Generally good one tear to the white area mid bottom of the page.5 - Governor General, generally good top of the barrel seat missing and small hole below the feet6 - His Lady yellow mark below the figure to the white area. part of the shoulder and chest area missing part of which is in border 2cm hole.7 - Manchu Tartar General, some small foxed spots one missing area from the top right otherwise good8 - His lady, some very small foxed spots, otherwise good.9 - Mandarin of 3rd rank blue button, generally in good condition.10 - His lady, some small foxed spots11 - Inferior Mandarin, smallish loss mid bottom edge slightly out from ribbon band at RHS. Paper repair between hat and lily leaf otherwise good.12 - His wife, two small losses to the bottom edge, loss to painting of hair at back of neck and a few discoloured areas.Silk covered binding is in fairly good condition. Rubs to the right hand corner of the front, bottom and top spire. Back lower edge and top edge, small dirt mark on top part of back cover. Interior paper label and end papers in pretty good condition, paper turned over at the top left and some yellow marks to the paper.

Of Plymouth and Lady Nancy Astor interest, a small silver doubled handled trophy on a pedestal base, hallmarked Chester 1906, makers marks George Nathan and Ridley Hayes, inscribed Port of Plymouth Swimming Association Breakwater Swim First Prize Presented by Mrs Waldorf Astor Won by Miss C Denithorne 11th September 1912. This trophy was presented to the winner of the inaugural Breakwater Swim (1912) which is held annually to this day. Small dent on the front of the cup and small knock to base at the rear, overall height 18cm, 5.80oz. Lady Nancy Astor became the first female MP in British history to take a seat in parliament.
