Condition Report: Marks, scratches, chips and abrasions commensurate with age and use.Some chips including to some of the protruding carving for example the flowerheads at the top of the legs and feet.The paintwork is later, but of some age, and has a mellow distressed patina including rubbing revealing in places the underlying timber and some crackelure.Some evidence of old worm.The later upholstery is a hessian type ground, with areas of later silk thread over-stitching and some woolwork stitching, giving the fabric a pleasing three dimensional quality. The arm upholstery is the most worn with some holes. A PAIR OF GEORGE III CARVED BEECH AND UPHOLSTERED ARMCHAIRSIN THE FRENCH HEPPLEWHITE TASTE, CIRCA 1790each 92cm highCondition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions, old chips and splits commensurate with age and use. The chairs are of solid structure. The frames have been re-stained/ varnished to tidy the appearance. Close inspection has revealed that the underlying timber is beech and not mahogany as originally described. Where there has been some very small areas of wear, this reveals the pale coloured timber. No apparent old breaks to legs. Some old tack holes are visible at the edges of timber elements where previous upholstery has been secured. The originality of the seat rails or the structure underlying upholstery cannot be guaranteed as those elements are all covered by upholstery. The current upholstery is relatively recent and is in good clean condition overall with very few minor stainsOnly 1 small loose cushion is present with the lot as photographed.Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition.  Condition Report Disclaimer

Condition Report: Please note, this is a matched set of similar chairs and were not made as a matching set. Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and use, old chips and splits. some old repairs, some lossesOld worm damage as expected, most noticeably to seat rails but all appear solid of structure overall. All chairs overall of solid structure. Various old glued repairs and re-glued joints. Loss and tears to needlework covers as photographed, The needlework and upholstery is likely 20th century but in keeping with period taste. Armchair 1 ; Both rear feet re-tipped approx 4cm, one rear leg with slender spliced strip up the height of the inside edge. Atleast 3 of the seat rails may be old replacements. Armchair 2 ; both rear feet re-tipped similarly to armchair 1. Atleast 3 of the seat rails may be old replacements. The lower stretchers are likely old honest and faithful replacements. The upright supporting one arm has a drilled dowel supporting, evidence of glue and losses adjacent. This chair incorporates beech elements. (mainly legs and stretchers) the fronts legs and stretchers may be later replacements. Side Chair 1; Appears constructed of walnut, beech and fruitwood. The feet are well matched replacements. A MAHOGANY AND UPHOLSTERED WINDOW SEAT CIRCA 1790 AND LATER 66cm high, 167cm wide, 44cm deepThe upholstery fabric is of a Guy Goodfellow Copper Fez Weave. Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use. The upholstery later, also some rails to the underside including one long rail, short rails and cross stretchers - this has almost certainly been professionally done and probably when it was last upholstered. The frame is solid and stable overall. Dreweatts cannot guarantee the originality of the frame hidden beneath upholstery. Upholstery in good condition overall.
