Design: Trammin’ Artist: Alice Cretney About the artist Alice Cretney is an artist and curator. She gained a First from Wimbledon College of Art BA Fine Art Course in 2011. While studying in 2009 she was awarded the PM12 British Arts Council London-Japan award and exhibited in Kyoto, Japan. In 2011 Alice was awarded the Final Year Award from Royal Female School of Art Foundation. She currently runs TURF Projects, a non-for-profit arts organisation in Croydon directing their programme of exhibitions, events, screenings and workshops. About the design Trammin' looks at the interior of a mode of transport - in this case, the newly designed trams in Croydon. The design on the outside of the bus is inspired by the patterns seen on the trams in Croydon in the present. Alice is also interested in the history of the tramlink network, the seating cover designs and how they have changed over time. She finds it fascinating the way the designs for the patterns of the seat covers are put together and how they reflect the mode of transport itself. Location: Charles Street Dimensions: Length- 2.4m Width 0.5m Height- 0.95m
