The swept arms carved with sprays of acanthus and daisy wheels to the scroll terminals. The down-swept arms raised on column supports adjoining the seat above conforming column legs and a run-moulded & arched seat rail. The block feet joined by peripheral stretchers.

The round turned arms having ball terminals on round posts leading down to a panel seat with velvet swab cushion. The turned front legs joined by a high turned stretcher and an H-form under-stretcher connecting them to the square rear legs. 38 ins (96.5 cms) high, 20 ins (51 cms) wide, 20 ins (51 cms) deep.

A Rare Charles II Joined Oak Sleeping Chair, upholstered in red damask fabric woven with stylised foliage pattern and secured with brass studs (A/F). The high hinged back having wing sides and adjustable iron ratchets to set the angle. The long padded arm rails incorporating wrought iron rods at the front which extend to support a reading desk, above canted block posts. The large rectangular seat having a feather filled cushion above well-turned ball & column front rail and legs united by a conforming H-form stretcher. 50 ins (127 cms) in height, 27 ins (69 cms) width of arms. [A similar example in `Oak Furniture, The British Tradition` by Victor Chinnery, p. 256, Fig.3:61].

The triple arched back joined to downswept enclosed arms and a long padded seat; re-upholstered in a patterned fabric woven with pink & blue flowers & foliage issued from urns, and secured with brass studs. The four finely turned peg-baluster & ball legs joined by three paired baluster H-form stretchers. Raised on bun feet 41 ins (104 cms) in height, 77 ins x 36 ins (196 cms x 92 cms).

A Splendid Italian Inlaid Cassapanca or hall seat developed from a cassoné in keeping with 16th century Italian tradition. The back surmounted by a shaped pediment carved with scrolls of acanthus and inlaid with geometric designs depicted in bone and bands of stringing. The scroll-ended arms above a box form seat with a hinged lid edged in gadrooning and a guilloche carved cavetto moulded base raised on scaly claw feet. The whole finely inlaid throughout with Moorish style panels of repeated flower-heads, bands and chequer-work. The seat`s front board having a raised oval centre panel flanked by carved cherubic caryatids. 59½ ins (151 cms) high, 61 ins (156 cms) wide, 22 ins (56 cms) deep.

A Pair of Charles II Carved Walnut Caned Chairs. Each chair having a crested top rail enriched with twin cherubs holding aloft a crown flanked by flower-head knop finials surmounting barleytwist uprights. The caned panel back framed by pierced & carved floral rails above a caned seat standing on barley-twist legs with carved flowers to the tenon blocks. The legs united by a richly carved & pierced front rail reflecting the cresting rail and an H-form stretcher below standing on bun feet.

The back having a nulled upper panel above a broad nulled muntin and gouge carved principal panel decorated with a six-petalled design enhanced with punchwork and set in a chip carved frame. The scroll end arms decorated with chip carving. The seat above a guilloche carved scallop-edged rail and standing on bobbin turned legs united by peripheral stretchers.

The later seat above run-moulded rails and baluster legs raised on block legs joined by high stretchers.

The curved, down-swept arms having a moulded lower edge with scroll terminals raised on ball & column turned supports; the similarly carved legs & stretchers raised on knopped feet.

The back panel centred by a carved foliate design defined against a recessed pitted ground and framed by a chip carved lozenge embellished with cross-hatched trilobes at each corner. The shaped cresting rail enriched with chip carving and punch-work above shaped spandrels. The down-swept silhouette cut arms resting on baluster turned supports leading to a planked seat and on to form the baluster legs with square feet united by peripheral stretchers. Old repairs to the arms and seat. 40¾ ins (103 cms) high, 22½ ins (57 cms) wide, 21½ ins (55 cms) deep.

A Fine & Impressive Yorkshire Oak Wainscot Chair attributed to the Bradfield/Halifax area circa 1650-1700. The deep twin humped top rail enriched with scrolling trails of flowers & foliage set within a double-scrolled outline enriched with punch-work; the voluted ends forming lobe terminals. The back panel centred by a small foliate motif framed by a channel moulded lozenge emitting gouge carved fleur-de-lys and cross-hatched trilobes. The heavy chip-carved uprights inlaid with checkered bands and flanked by S-scroll spandrels. The down-swept arms on baluster posts leading down to a planked seat with engrailed sides, run-moulded rails and cannon-barrel turned legs untied by peripheral stretchers. The seat furnished with a crimson plash cushion. 47 ins (122 cms) high, 23 ins (59 cms) wide, 25½ ins (65 cms) deep. There is an axle driven cable drum and drive shaft locking pins, chain link steering to front with leaf springs to axle, finished in dark blue with cream/red lining, polished brass fittings, boiler bands and two working brass head lamps. This model has been built to the very highest standards in engineering and presentation complete with tools, driver`s seat, engineering drawings, pressure test certificate from July 1997, general dimensions overall, length 71", height 45 1/4", approx weight 11cwt.
