A Continental 17th Century Style Armchair. The tall rectangular hump-topped back and generous sprung seat upholstered in floral gros-point wool work. The swept arms carved with sprays of acanthus and daisy wheels to the scroll terminals. The turned legs connected by a turned H-form stretcher and a carved front rail of scrolling foliage above Briganza feet. 47 ins (120 cms) high, 25½ ins (65 cms) wide, 28 ins (71 cms) deep.
A Charming Oak Child`s Windsor Chair with traces of residual paintwork. The arched top rail above seven spindles piercing the bowed arm rail with scroll knop ends and raised on two further spindles & a curved front support. The shaped seat above four baluster turned legs joined by an H-form stretcher. 22¼ ins (56.5 cms) in height, 14 ins (36 cms) width of the arms, 11¼ ins (28.5 cms) depth of the seat.
A 19th Century High Back Pine Settle with residual green paintwork. The eight plank back with an angled top rail adjoining two large silhouette cut wing sides forming the arms & feet and supporting the long plank seat with grove moulded front rail, 58½ (149 cms) in height, 53½ ins (136 cms) wide, 18½ ins (57 cms) in depth.
A Small & Unusual Late 18th Century Welsh `Lobster-pot` Windsor Chair. The top rail above five splayed stick spindles fanning out to meet the arm bow pierced with thirteen under-arm spindles and having an old & well patinated spliced in repair to the arm. The block seat raised on four morticed through and wedged chamfered legs, 38 ins (96.5 cms) in height, 23½ ins (60 cms) wide and 19 ins (48 cms) deep.
An 18th Century Elm `Country Chippendale` Armchair. The fret-work back splat carved with interlaced straps & a pendant tassel beneath a shell crested top rail with upswept terminals. The arms sweeping out to form scroll ends on curved supports leading down to a drop in seat on square stop-fluted legs, 40 ins (102 cms) high, 28 ins (71 cms) wide, 21 ins (53 cms) deep.
A 17th Century Oak Wainscot Armchair (A/F). The twin scroll cresting rail above a rail of carved interlinked trefoil headed lunettes. The plain uprights flanking a single back panel enriched with a leaf-carved quatrefoil centred by a rosette whorl and bordered by incised bands. The down-swept arms raised on column supports adjoining the seat above conforming column legs and a run-moulded & arched seat rail. The block feet joined by peripheral stretchers.
A Small 19th Century Boarded Oak Commode Rocking Chair. The tall back having a scrolling top pierced with a heart above an enclosed seat with a round aperture above an ogee-cut apron front. The panel back with an applied moulding strip to the centre below a run-moulded top rail with scalloped edge and flanked by run-moulded uprights with rounded terminals. A 17th Century Joined Walnut Armchair. The padded back rail re-covered in crimson velvet with a tasselled fringe above square uprights. The round turned arms having ball terminals on round posts leading down to a panel seat with velvet swab cushion. The turned front legs joined by a high turned stretcher and an H-form under-stretcher connecting them to the square rear legs. 38 ins (96.5 cms) high, 20 ins (51 cms) wide, 20 ins (51 cms) deep.
A Rare Charles II Joined Oak Sleeping Chair, upholstered in red damask fabric woven with stylised foliage pattern and secured with brass studs (A/F). The high hinged back having wing sides and adjustable iron ratchets to set the angle. The long padded arm rails incorporating wrought iron rods at the front which extend to support a reading desk, above canted block posts. The large rectangular seat having a feather filled cushion above well-turned ball & column front rail and legs united by a conforming H-form stretcher. 50 ins (127 cms) in height, 27 ins (69 cms) width of arms. [A similar example in `Oak Furniture, The British Tradition` by Victor Chinnery, p. 256, Fig.3:61].
An 18th Century French Walnut Settee. The triple arched back joined to downswept enclosed arms and a long padded seat; re-upholstered in a patterned fabric woven with pink & blue flowers & foliage issued from urns, and secured with brass studs. The four finely turned peg-baluster & ball legs joined by three paired baluster H-form stretchers. Raised on bun feet 41 ins (104 cms) in height, 77 ins x 36 ins (196 cms x 92 cms).
A Splendid Italian Inlaid Cassapanca or hall seat developed from a cassoné in keeping with 16th century Italian tradition. The back surmounted by a shaped pediment carved with scrolls of acanthus and inlaid with geometric designs depicted in bone and bands of stringing. The scroll-ended arms above a box form seat with a hinged lid edged in gadrooning and a guilloche carved cavetto moulded base raised on scaly claw feet. The whole finely inlaid throughout with Moorish style panels of repeated flower-heads, bands and chequer-work. The seat`s front board having a raised oval centre panel flanked by carved cherubic caryatids. 59½ ins (151 cms) high, 61 ins (156 cms) wide, 22 ins (56 cms) deep.
A Pair of Charles II Carved Walnut Caned Chairs. Each chair having a crested top rail enriched with twin cherubs holding aloft a crown flanked by flower-head knop finials surmounting barleytwist uprights. The caned panel back framed by pierced & carved floral rails above a caned seat standing on barley-twist legs with carved flowers to the tenon blocks. The legs united by a richly carved & pierced front rail reflecting the cresting rail and an H-form stretcher below standing on bun feet.
A Small 17th Century Oak Wainscot Chair, possibly Scottish. The back having a nulled upper panel above a broad nulled muntin and gouge carved principal panel decorated with a six-petalled design enhanced with punchwork and set in a chip carved frame. The scroll end arms decorated with chip carving. The seat above a guilloche carved scallop-edged rail and standing on bobbin turned legs united by peripheral stretchers.
A Fine 17th Century Derbyshire Style Oak Side Chair. The two crescent shaped back bars with scalloped upper edges and pendant finial adornments joined by uprights with scroll terminals and split turned spindle appliqués. The sunken seat above a bobbin turned front stretcher & legs, raised on bun feet.

The cresting rail carved with the initials IW and date 1692, and having animate scroll terminals above guilloche carved uprights flanked by a series of protuberant `ear-pieces`. The back panel boldly carved with interlace quatrefoil strap-work enriched by flowerhead terminals. The down-swept arms raised on baluster supports. The later seat above run-moulded rails and baluster legs raised on block legs joined by high stretchers.
A 17th Century Continental Walnut Tapestry Armchair. The original petit point back panel depicting a pagoda sheltering a fruiting tree, and the seat with a cartouche centred by an urn issuing flowers; both having tasselled fringes. The curved, down-swept arms having a moulded lower edge with scroll terminals raised on ball & column turned supports; the similarly carved legs & stretchers raised on knopped feet.
A Splendid 17th Century Dales Wainscot Chair. The tall back having a shaped cresting rail carved with voluted scrolls issuing pendant leaves. The coiled ends forming lobe terminals above shaped spandrels. The back panel enhanced by a diamond motif peppered with punch-work and gouge carved with scrolling pennants at each corner. The hook cut scroll-end arms edged in incised outlines and resting on rising baluster posts leading to the plank seat with chip carved sides. A Charles II Oak Wainscot Chair attributed to the Leeds area of Yorkshire and having a rich dark patination. The back panel centred by a carved foliate design defined against a recessed pitted ground and framed by a chip carved lozenge embellished with cross-hatched trilobes at each corner. The shaped cresting rail enriched with chip carving and punch-work above shaped spandrels. The down-swept silhouette cut arms resting on baluster turned supports leading to a planked seat and on to form the baluster legs with square feet united by peripheral stretchers. Old repairs to the arms and seat. 40¾ ins (103 cms) high, 22½ ins (57 cms) wide, 21½ ins (55 cms) deep.
A Rare 16th Century Oak Linenfold Carved Armchair. The run-moulded top rail above two finely carved linenfold panels. The plain uprights adjoining down-swept arms raised on column supports. The box-seat having a square lid with iron hinges above a front rail with iron lock-plate & hasp. The astrigal turned columnar legs joined by peripheral block stretchers.
A Fine & Impressive Yorkshire Oak Wainscot Chair attributed to the Bradfield/Halifax area circa 1650-1700. The deep twin humped top rail enriched with scrolling trails of flowers & foliage set within a double-scrolled outline enriched with punch-work; the voluted ends forming lobe terminals. The back panel centred by a small foliate motif framed by a channel moulded lozenge emitting gouge carved fleur-de-lys and cross-hatched trilobes. The heavy chip-carved uprights inlaid with checkered bands and flanked by S-scroll spandrels. The down-swept arms on baluster posts leading down to a planked seat with engrailed sides, run-moulded rails and cannon-barrel turned legs untied by peripheral stretchers. The seat furnished with a crimson plash cushion. 47 ins (122 cms) high, 23 ins (59 cms) wide, 25½ ins (65 cms) deep. The down-swept arms raised on paired baluster supports and the left arm carved with the initials S.M. The seat having tapered & moulded edges above foliate lunette carved seat rails & reversed baluster legs joined by plain stretchers.

The shaped cresting rail enriched with carved foliage and having voluted scroll terminals forming lobes above elongated S-scroll `ear-pieces`. The back panel chip-carved with a gadrooned arch framing a fluted globular urn cascading stylized foliage within a beaded border. The scroll end arms on gun-barrel posts leading down to a planked seat and similarly turned legs united by peripheral stretchers, 45½ ins (166 cms) high, 22 ins (56 cms) wide, 21½ ins (55 cms) deep.

The thick planked seat above barrel turned legs & peripheral stretchers and terminating on bun feet.
